"The caravan from south altor is leaving" This notification keeps popping up in quick succession and made the game unplayable. Also, after so many hours of playing I've been having trouble actually saving the game. Is it like a memory thing?

Can you please post your log file (as an attachment), and or a save game file where the repeated notification pop-up is reliably occurring.

re: saving. Can you please elaborate on the problem, and define what you mean by "having trouble". As that is quite a vague definition that could mean several different things. Is it taking a long time to save, is it failing to save, is it... something else? If it's the first one, then that is a recently reported issue that is likely caused by some changes to how the game saves games (and implemented to try and prevent save game corruption. Although this change might be getting reverted if it has significantly increased the time it takes to save the game).

Hi thanks for the prompt reply! I don't really know how to post my log file...also, I'm using tons of mods so I don't know if showing you my save file would help...Speaking, do you think it has something to do with having too many mods? It's not the first time stuff like this happened...After playing for a certain amount of time I always have trouble saving (it says "error saving the file" or something like that) and when I restart the game from a previous save, all the weird stuff starts happening...(Stuff like notification keeps showing up)

Ah, my bad. I'm so used to seeing A17 unstable bug reports now that I failed to notice yours was in relation to A16.

In which case the saving issue is very likely to be caused by the (high number of) mods you are using, and the game might be running out of memory while attempting to save. This issue has been reported multiple times in A16. You can help mitigate this problem by reducing the number of mods you use, playing on smaller maps and lower world coverage, and avoiding visiting too many settlements. As all these things increase the burden on the games RAM usage.

Other than that I'm not sure if there's much you can do about this other than saving regularly (as memory issues tend to get worse the longer a playing session goes on for), and reverting back if weird stuff starts happening. As IIUC, if you save and continue at that point you may be compounding the problem as you are saving the game with the weirdness already occurring, and then that carries when you reload it.

Also moving this to mod bugs. (edit - Details on where to find your log file can be found in the following thread https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=513.0 . It wont harm for you to post it, as maybe someone else has had the notification issue you have and so can spot a particular that may be causing it. It likely won't help with the saving issue though as that's not caused by a particular mod, as it's a culmination of factors).

Hi thanks so much!! Haha it looks like people are really excited to try out the A17 patch ;) But I just can't live without some of the mods ;P

I'll be reducing some of the non-essential mods now...I'll let you know how it goes!

Oh by the way!! Is it a good idea to save and restart the game like every hour or so to prevent this memory issue from happening?

Part of the issue in A16 is some sort of memory leak, whereby the game will slowly start to consume more and more RAM the longer the playing session goes on for. This in turn has a direct relationship with the chance of the game failing to save due to a lack of available memory. Here's the rather lengthy Mantis report on this particular issue if you're interested.

So will it help to restart your playing sessions every hour or so? Probably. Or it put it another way. Are there any downsides to it? No. So potentially much to gain (ie. no failed saves), with little to lose (other than the minor annoyance involved).

Edit - I should add that as well as the earlier preventative measures mentioned, running more than one colony is also known to have a rather large detrimental affect on this problem. So stick to one colony only, especially if you are using a lot of mods.

Oh okay!! Thanks for letting me know! I'm also playing on the smallest map now. 200x200, I think. Hopefully it'll help. Has this memory leak issue been fixed in A17?

I only know what it says on that Mantis report, and it says "Status resolved. Resolution fixed". Although maybe due to the nature of the issue, "resolved" in this case might just mean "improved". But that's just my own take on it.

I guess the likelihood is that the devs won't know for sure whether this problem is resolved until A17 is released, and the reports of memory issues and save issues start appearing on the forum again :( ... or not :)
