I do.

The stockpile by the kitchen stores meat.

I think you're using the Big bang modpack with a few addons (Medbed and inventory panel for instance) which I'm fairly sure is where the old gun resources patch came from. (Or atleast is used)

My guess is that a mod is interefering with the butchering table, so perhaps removing the one that allows you to skin critters will fix the issue?

Make a stock pile for animals only. Or! Perhaps get your cook to haul it with no animal stockpiles. He will have to haul it to the butcher table...

Perhaps...
Video games, are pretty good

Thanks for the suggestions.  Strange that it would have worked in previous games and, after not changing or adding a mod, it doesn't in this one.  Such is the life of mods I suppose.

Regarding the suggestion to have an animal only stock pile, I do.  It's right next to the butcher table.

Another strange thing is that I have a crate of muffalo meat which the cook also won't use.

Also, what priority (be it cook or hauler or crafter) is set for butchering?

Maybe if I made sure that priority was set to one and had no other checked I could get it to haul.

are there prisoner marked beds in the same area?
try removing them then deconstruct and rebuild the table.

the same thing was happening my stonecutting table, i realised it was the prisoners who were causing the problem.

Cooking is the skill for butchering.

Something else for you to try: Forbid all other animal corpses and select a colonist that has cooking enabled, then right-click the butchering table. There should be an option to butcher, and if the muffalo is the only thing available, they should butcher it.

I'll give that a try.

What I can't figure out is why the cook won't use the muffalo crate as well since it's ready to go.

What do you mean by that? You have to unpack crates to use their contents.

Lol.  I didn't know that.

Thanks to everyone that helped.  I ended up starting a new game and removing the Animal Skins mod and it worked.

Although, the Animal Skins mod worked fine with all the same mods I had previously without change.  So it might have just been a glitch.
