Is there a point to it?

I've seen a lot of base images and even Tynan has some in his videos. I thought there was a debuff to having more than one person sleeping in a room?

I looked it up in the code. The double bed makes your colonists recover faster. They heal at 105% compared to a regular bed and need 3% less time to get rested. Another bonus is that the royal bed has the beauty modifier "gorgeous" which increases colonists mood while they are close to it.

Is it worth it? Only late game if you have metal surplus.
The beauty modifier is only applied while the colonist are very close to the bed. In their bedroom it will only affect them while they are sleeping which isn't very useful. The buff to rest time and healing is nice but I don't think it's something you want to rush for at 60 metal per bed.

A sleeping spot only gives 70% rest recovery speed and wounds need 160% to heal compared to a regular bed. It's really important to upgrade all your colonists ASAP to regular beds.
