Game freezes when I try to activate mods, help please?

So, I've tried to activate several different mods for the current version (version 5xx, don't remember exact version, as I'm posting from my phone. It's the most recent though, think it's 584). All the mods are for alpha 7, so they should work, but for some reason activating any mod freezes the game and renders it unplayable until I remove the entries from the active mods xml. Any insight into the nature of this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Try this:

  • activate only 1 mod at a time
  • start a new colony with this mod active and try to use some of its functionalities (to save you some time, you can spawn items/buildings in god mode)
  • open the console (² or ~ on the left of 1/& key) and if there is no yellow warning nor red error message then this mod should be OK
  • restart the test with another mod

Please be aware that some mods require you to activate some "dependances" in the right order (for example "jaxxa phoenix defense core" or "Mining & Co. Common"). ::)

Well, as it turned out, my problem was quite strange, and it took a bit of digging to find a fix. What had caused my issue was actually Hamachi. I had forgotten that it was installed, and apparently it causes issues with certain games. Once I uninstalled it though, the game runs perfectly. Just figured I'd post it in case anyone else is having the same issue as me and didn't know why, so they don't have to sift through posts about old versions to find a fix for this one.

I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. - Myself

Yep, that's actually the thread that helped me fix the issue. Wish we could get a list of all the bugs and fixes to them throughout all the alpha versions though.
