Save file won't open

I can make and play worlds fine but I can't load either an autosave or a manual save. I found that the save file is in a different folder than the game launcher altogether. Could this be the issue? And I don't have any mods on other than the core so the game can run.

Saved games should be located: AppData\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld\Saves\

Have you installed any mods? If so that "could" be the reason its not opening as you normally have to start a new game.

If the save files have mods and you have no mods activated I find that you just get a black screen when you open the save file. As Man said the files are in that folder and if you have any mods installed be sure that they are on and that only the mods that you made the old colony with is on.

Rimworld is very picky on mod adding in the middle of the game...

I too have issues opening saved files.
I how no mods at all and have found in the last 2-3 saved games the game file has become corrupted.
When loading saved game I get a black screen. I have let it load for 5-10 minutes with no luck.
Please advise.

hi i am having the same problem just downloaded alpha 9 no mods played for a bit saved it all fine and now when i come to load it up it just crashes any help would be grate

When it hangs, exit the game, browse to the RimWorldxyz_data subfolder of your installation and post the output_log.txt you'll find there. This is the games log file and any error breaking the game should hopefully be listed there.
