I want to buy the game and would prefer ordering it from this website (btw I love your layout, forum is really well done).

Living in the EU (Germany) I will pay more if I order in $ (US or Can). If I order at Steam its easier for me, but do you guys get less ?
All I know is that Steam takes a big share from the buying price.
Btw. its 30$ on your site and 27.99 Euro at steam.
Anyone can enlighten me ?  :D

At time of posting, 1 USD equals 0.9421 Euro - http://www.google.co.uk/finance?q=usdEUR&ei=ZUKoWImDDI-UUp_hivAB

30x0.9421 = 28.263 Euros. So Steam is (currently) cheaper by 0.27 Euros. (taking into account that your credit card provider (or the like) might use a slightly different exchange rate).

I don't know if the percentage that Steam takes off developers has ever been officially stated (as IIUC the T&C prevents developers revealing it, and Steam are not likely to publically reveal it themselves), but the oft reported figure of 30% is probably more fact than rumour.

So financially, RimWorld's developer (Tynan Sylvester) will certainly benefit more from you buying the game directly from this website, and has stated this several times in the past. Plus you benefit from getting a copy of the DRM-free version of the game as well as a Steam key (you also get a few other titbits https://ludeon.com/blog/2016/10/steam-keys-available-for-ongoing-purchases/ ). And I'm pretty sure everyone will tell you the DRM-free version is well worth the extra 27 cents. Not least because Steam has the habit of messing up people's games now and again (there are a load of Steam only bug/support issues that keep appearing in these  respective sub-forums), which are problems people using the DRM-free version get to avoid.

Thank you for your reply and the links. That clarifies it. Gonna order it here as soon as Im done cooking  :)
Will be back to tell you about the amount I will have to pay. For the sake of other Eu players too ofc  ;)

This game is worth the money spent on it.Of course, due to very strange currency discounts, it turns out to be only 11$ here and while i got the game at 20$ from Ludeon well before the steam release, I still feel like money well spent.

Euzio

Aye. For any new people who are looking to buy this game. Just buy directly from Ludeon. You get the Steam keys anyway and almost all of the proceeds goes directly to Tynan himself. If you're on a tight budget, then purchasing through Steam (when there is a sale for it) will be an option. But I would think spending the little bit more for Tynan and to directly contribute to the development is a nice way to show appreciation for this awesome game.

I bought this game myself prior to the greenlight on Steam and its been one of the best purchases I've made ever.

Got it on the page, then realized it is on Steam. Had no Steam key and auto-redeem system didn't work. Wrote an e-mail, got the key.

Glad I got it from the site, reading that Steam takes that much share. Hope Tytan got some Lavish meals (or at least Simple Meals, if there is lack of meat :V) out of it! :-D
Gotta admit that it was already worth all the money spent, and the game is in freakin Alpha... D: I'm gonna go ahead and say that when game gets into full release, it will be a smash-hit, getting great reviews all around, and continuing the development for good amount of time. I mean, for game like this you can just add and add stuff forever, and I think people would be more than willing to drop some extra buck for some extra features. :P
I'm nobody from nowhere who knows nothing about anything.
But you are still wrong.

Heck, its one the highest rated EA games on Steam. Over 95% approval rating thus far. Its also ranked 50/100 in approval rating overall of all Steam games. Pretty much shows how much terrific this game is  ;D
