Bob Ross Drugs: A Cyborg, Luciferium, Penoxycyline, Wake-Up, and Cannabis Cult

 Hello everybody! First post here but no stranger to the wonder that is RimWorld. This colony I'm posting about today is actually a bit of a long story. I'm from over on the Arstechnica Openforums where we have a seventeen page thread discussing the alpha already. Over time we've shared a bunch of our stories with each other & one day I sat down to explain my latest colony, Bob Ross Drugs. It turned into quite the post!

Original post can be found here on Ars & here on Reddit. I was very inspired by the communities response, it's literally made me crave to play RimWorld all week! It's always really cool to read an epic world tale but I wanted to be able to share the experience with everybody in a more direct, visual matter. Though lets be clear, I am no Let's Player, I'm not a Twitch personality, and I'm not a professional YouTuber. I'm just a guy from a forum looking to share his RimWorld experience with the world & figured why not expand on where it's seen.

Well that night finally came, I had the evening off work & dove right into my save file again. The results came out pretty well I think! If you've read the wall of text that is this colonies story so far & want to know more, then I've got the video ready!   You can check it out on YouTube here & Reddit here. I titled it "Bob Ross Drugs: Tales Of The Terminators" and tried to add some basic production quality to it. I really dislike boring game videos online, there's a billion of them out there, so I tried to add some humor & record at 1080p60fps to provide a ground level of quality. Though once again, I'm not in this field so you get what you get.

Updates:

Well this colony has just kept going and going. I've tried to spread out the different types of media generated by it. Really not in any sort of advertising methodology but more as a way for me to practice different things while still being excited by the topic. First I posted Rise of the $100,000 Man.. Cyborg.. Borg. Resistance is futile. image showing off the Expanded Prosthetics and Organ Engineering mod. Next I posted a screenshot when TIL: Luciferium can heal brain damage including the dreaded "permanent gunshot injury". Really neat factoid I didn't even know until running across that very moment. Next this colony generated a rather dark moment when dealing with addiction inside the community for a second time. I posted an attempt at a comicesque layout, Croio had an intense chemical fascination... though the internet did not join in on the humor this time, it was widely unpopular.

Then I posted my first attempt at an animation, Rolling your Smokeleaf crop in style! (how to speed craft joints), which turned out to be super popular but also very controversial. I honestly don't even understand how people get their knickers in such a twist over this, like full on point by point argument going on. It's already so efficient I guess I just don't give two fucks about colonists slowing down for half a second to cross over a light in the hallway, but clearly other people feel very strongly about this. Still shocked over the comments, couldn't care one bit about all the fuss, pretty lulz.

Then I posted a second attempt at an animation, Manhunter warg pack crosses two trade convoys. Which did pretty well, people upvoted it quite a bit, I was just happy to see it didn't start some internet shit storm of private messages and arguments. Happy to see the internet can get along, I started out on making my most advanced animation yet, 1000+ frames with a 150% zoom box, it took forever! Finally though, Ten Melee Cyborgs versus Fifty Man Tribal Raid (10v50) was brought into this world! I really enjoy how this one turned out and it was alot of fun to make. As soon as I saw the raid button popup with an entire screen wave of tribesmen I knew I had to turn on a recording of what was about ready to happen. I'm so glad I did, what a moment to be able to show people. This game is incredible & I hope moments like this inspire more folks to purchase a copy.

Anyways, that's all I've got for now. Wanted to give everybody a massive update since this colony just keeps going! From walls of text, to videos, to pictures, to animations, all I need to do is release some sort of RimWorld cyborg hiphop song to really round it out. LOL!
