I downloaded Alpha 7 today when it came out, but I want to play one of my Alpha 6 saves. I know there is a way to do it because it says there is on the blog ( "Also note that this build will not load old savegames, so keep your old install separate if you want to finish an Alpha 6 colony." ), I am just unsure how! Thanks for any help!

downloading A7 will be a completely different file than A6. As long as you didn't delete it, you A6 folder should still be in your computer. Just open the game form that instead of the new A7 download.

This bit means that if you still want to finish/play the Alpha 6 colony you can't play it in alpha 7
and shouldn't install the new alpha over the old one

But there was some really crafty fellow, I remember, who managed to play with
his old saves by modifying the save files
but that'd take tremendous amounts of work!

You still could enable the dev mode in options and spawn colonists and stuff in
and redo the base in godmode

But in short; You cannot play your old Alpha 6 colony in Alpha 7
