I'm a new player, so please pardon me if this is just a misunderstanding of game mechanics. But I've noticed that any "indoors" place where I build a battery, either inside a building or in a mined-out cavern, becomes "outdoors" once the battery is built. It's my understanding that batteries should be built indoors to protect against short-circuits, but it seems to be impossible to do that!

Please check, if there is a roof over the battery. That defines if the battery is safe from rain.
As far as I understand it, it is just outdoors, because once built it is technically like a wall. And walls can't be part of a room. They just define where the room ends but aren't part of the room. And everything not in a room (game mechanic wise) is automatically outdoors.
