How the hell did you get 44 colonists in less than 6 years?

It takes me like, 3 years to get 15 colonists

I tend to put the enemy down in stages, and let them knock themselves out. then the few that get through are dealt with, and any who run get caught. Enemy losses were somewhere between 90%-100% of the attack force.
