So, I'm thinking about creating a contest in RimWorld, about who can get the best statistics in the period of one real life week on a chosen map seed and chosen coordinates. However, I know it's really easy to cheat in RimWorld, such as if the winner would be determined by wealth, there would be nothing stopping them from spawning in 1000 gold superior statues. So my question is, is there a way to keep cheating off for the duration of a game, and also monitor that it stays off? If not, would it be possible to mod it in?

G'day! I reckon a lot of the people that could answer that question don't really frequent the support boards, I'd recommend either the mod or General areas. :)

No, I don't thin you will be able to stop people from cheating if they want to.

Any mods that you can set up to stop people from enabling the dev mode cheats you will have no way of knowing if they were used or not, they could also enable other unbalanced mods to cheat at the game, and the save files are list .xml, if you spent some time it would be fairly trivial to increase the value of a colony, e.g. this pile of silver is now x500 instead of x20.

I think that your best bet would be some combination of Trust / evidence.
You could make people record their games so you can watch it and see where all the value is coming from.
Or demand screenshot every ingame day / week, that would slow down cheating but  would still be possible.

But this would get annoying and be a barrier to entry.

Also in your contest is it cheating to save scum?
