Upgrading from pre-alpha to alpha

I have had the pre-alpha version of rimworld for a while, now but can't seem to figure out how to upgrade my version of the game to alpha, any tips on that front? Of course, I do realize I might just be missing something very obvious, but I absolutely cannot figure out a solution to this problem.
