I was holed up, waiting out a Manhunting Boomrat pack when one of my colonists, Leighton, went on a psychite binge. Since the only psychite was some Yayo laying on the ground outside my fort, I immediately imprisoned Leighton before he wandered outside and got himself killed. However, once I imprisoned him, I was unable to Release him. If I set him to be Released, the wardens approach him, not do anything, and immediately leave. In addition, his nametag is a different color than that of the raider I have imprisoned.

I've attached the save in question.

Thank you for the bug report, and especially the save file (how I wish everyone did this when reporting bugs).

The reason you can not release Leighton is because you have forbidden passage through all the doors exiting your base. I loaded your save and un-forbid one of these doors and one of your wardens then released Leighton.

I honestly don't know if this is a bug or not though. I thought released prisoners were escorted to the nearest outside tile that wasn't in your home zone, but I played around with your save a bit and there seems to be more to it than that. Although it's late and my brain has already fallen asleep, so I'm probably just overlooking something (and likely obvious).

I'll leave this open for now, as maybe someone with a firm understanding of the release mechanics/requirements might post to help clarify things regarding whether this is bugged or WAD, and whether or not releasing imprisoned colonists has the same mechanics as releasing non-colonists (plus my brain might remember something about this once it wakes up).

Well, I hope it's a bug, because this means I can't release my colonist until the manhunting pack leaves (unless I'm sneaky about it). It would be nice if colonists were just escorted outside the cell instead of outside the base. At the very least, I needed a warning about why I couldn't release him.

I think there is a bug here somewhere, not least the lack of a message or mouse-over informing the player why the prisoner can't be released. And/or a notification if the warden was in the process of releasing the prisoner, but then had to abort (because the player forbid all the doors).

And I agree that it would ne nice, or even an expectancy, for imprisoned colonists to be released differently. As it really doesn't make sense (to me at least) for colonists to need escorting to a tile outside of the base, since escorted to outside the prisoner cell would be more logical, and make more sense in general (That is if they needed escorting at all).

So I'll certainly leave this open as there is a least one bug here IMO (lack of a feedback message), and maybe two (release mechanics for different prisoner types being the same).

Bug confirmed. I have listed it on Mantis here: https://ludeon.com/mantis/view.php?id=2688 Thank-you for reporting this.
