Carpets use metal. METAL.

More resources and use for them would make the game better. Animals give leather.
Leather can be used for clothes (clothes degrade over time).

Rimsheep and other critters (silk worm) give wool and silk and stuff for fabrics - from pillows and sheets to clothing and decorations.

T's Mod gives cotton for you to makes carpets out of. Check it out.
I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. - Myself
