Good. No more having to send colonist to stockpile! +1 To this idea.

Dwarf fortress is an example of where the player characters automatically dress themselves. There's no real system for getting cold, though. I can talk about my recent experiences of playing dwarf fortress adventure mode: You have to eat food and drink water, so you need to thaw your water to drink it when it's cold. But you never get cold yourself, because bodies do not get cold it would seem. The extreme example was trying to play a "Human Outsider". I started without any clothes on a tundra, without any water or food. All I had was a spear and a knife. I had to move outside the cold area in order to get water. I couldn't just eat snow or something, because that's not implemented. And I was butt naked, so I walked around the tundra like a yeti. *edit* but you can lick ice, without any luck

Personally I think a system where colonists change clothes situationally further increases the need for expanded storage capacity in things like gun racks and closets. I don't want my colonist's rooms to look like a lazy college student's dorm, with cloths all over the floor.

Why not make a new item from the template of the gun rack? Warddrobe. It would/could be placed in the respective colonists bedrooms and be limited to the colonist(s) that own the beds in that room. To prevent a rise/fall in parkers in stockpiles. A colonist AI might now want to take the parker off in summer if there are no storage spaces (which might bring in heatstroke by accident).
I'm seconding this idea, takes care of the parker problem and we could really use some more stuff to put into colonists' bedrooms.
+1
and may-be an addition for tools/weapons/armor...

How about this, as part of the 'waking up' procedure, Colonists check if it's cold/hot enough to equip/unequip parkas. Then we can have wardrobes next to every bed and colonist can get/store their clothes there.
I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. - Myself
