I usually only edit the save file if I start with bad health. For example my first A10 world I got 3 colonist with bad backs and two of them also had frail, and one had shot in the leg and the other had one of their arm.

my response is a bit different. No, I don't do it. I know you can, but I don't know how.
Hi, my name is Matthias and I am a Rimworld Addict. It has been five seconds since my last fix...

I don't know how to do this but I wouldn't do it even if. This game is made to challege you and by now I know so much about it that I'm happy for every challange. If you don't want bad back take younger colonists. It's a balance for the higher starting skills old people get, so it isn't just a cosmetic editing but actuall cheating. Also you can fix all the things you listed with the Expended Porsthetics and Organ Engineering Mod.

I have fixed bad back, frail and cataracts when I'm just relaxing on a basebuilder play, but I use the dev console to fix that, by apply damage, restore part and then selecting torso, fixes everything at once

DDog

Would love to fix bad back..  have no idea how... so no...

Used to use it in early alphas to give colonists actual weapons sometimes. Only reason ive used it recently Is that a colonist (starter 3) spawned in with an "old wound" to the brain, causing a 70% penalty to all actions.

Editing saves, no. However when I use to choose colonists (instead of the first ones I get like now) I would look at their health tab before launching and it wouldn't say bad back or frail, so i would pick them, but when they landed they after all did have bad back/frail. Ill go into the dev options and get rid of it in that case, because I wouldn't have chosen them in the first place if it had said it.

I only used to edit saves when my colonists got a meal stuck on them and died of starvation. I fixed it by clearing their inventories. Haven't had that bug anymore ever since so no need to edit it.

until you said about the age, i never really noticed that. so now ill make sure i get young people :D

Joshuasca

I edit my saves to give the colonists custom haircuts and colors, cause im one of those people that loves to customize little characters, i guess i played too many rpgs or something.  Sometimes i will add a passion or adjust a trait, not really for power gaming but more for customizing the character in a story sort of way, but mostly try to leave them as they generated.  I quit doing this as much after i discovered the prepare carefully mod which is the only mod i use and it is awesome.

DNK

Increase challenge rating once a colony is established. I start 130-160% and go up past 200% later on.

Ykara

I copied a colonist from another savegame into my test colony because I liked her so much. It's funny to see your favourite colonists turn into disfigured test subjects.

Gennadios

Before I discovered the Prepare Carefully mod I'd move my favorite colonists between the alpha builds, being able to simply re-create clones made that a whole lot easier, so not anymore.

I've use it on a reaver colony. Only recruited people with either Cannibal or Psychopath and would edit in which ever trait they didn't have - Psychopathic Cannibals are a rare find.
