  • Colonists will now try to avoid pathing outside their allowed area.
What does this mean? Colonists won't go through non-allowed areas at all? They only will when there's no allowed-area path to their (allowed) destination?
  • We no longer allow buying back prisoners you just sold as a way to insta-recruit anyone.
Do bought slaves always have to be recruited now, or prisoners sold to pirate merchants "remember" they're prisoners, or what?
  • Siegers can never use melee weapons (too exploitable).
Siegers can never use melee weapons, or siegers can never use only melee weapons (as the changelog says)? Very different.

Some sort of psychic wave has swept over the landscape. Your colonists are okay, but...
It seems many of the scythers in the area have been driven insane.

- From my understanding

Colonists would prefer to take the longer blue route than the short brown route.

Even if the areas are not connected, the colonists will still go there to do their work

- Slaves the merchant brought are unaffected, they are part of your colony once bought. Prisoners you just sold then immediately bought back would still need to be recruited.

- I dunnno about this last part. Haven't had a seige in a while in A11.

We no longer allow buying back prisoners you just sold as a way to insta-recruit anyone.

Before you could sell a prisoner to the pirate merchant, accept the deal, call the pirate merchant up again, and purchase the slave you just sold to the pirate merchant. Of course you need the $1000 extra silver to make this happen.  This is no longer possible, you can not purchase a slave that you just sold to the merchant.

Siegers can never use melee weapons (too exploitable).
Before, an entire seige would arrive with melee weapons.... was very easy to pick them off one at a time since they really had no way to defend themselves.  Siegers will always arrive with ranged weapons now, to defend their base, or as Tynan put it, "Ok, siegers now can't use melee weapons so this is fixed. "

Colonists will now try to avoid pathing outside their allowed area.

They will do their best to stay within their assigned zone, and take a longer path if there is one available... it is not perfect.  They will path between noncontinuous zones just like before.

TLHeart summarized it correctly.

For the siegers, it means they won't come with just melee weapons. There will still be melee enemies in the mix, but it won't be an all-melee siege (too easy to snipe them off from a distance).

Them pathing outside their allowed area is a feature; it means players can lay a discontinuous area such that the pawn can take destinations in two separate spaces and will only take the shortest path between them.

At one point in alpha 11 I had 6 sieges in a row, and even two at the same time! "random randy is a bastard, but I love him." and they always had a mix or just all longrange weapons. But if this was a general problem with a chance of this to happen thats fair enough.

^I had it happen once.

I sent one melee specialist straight into the camp. I then had him run straight back to the colony.

Cue an entire siege running into a trap. Good times. :3

I'm an Electrical and Electronic Engineering student in university in New Zealand.

I like games, but unfortunately they don't help me get a degree.. so I'm going to be inactive for awhile.
