Insanely slow download speeds

Hi,

I'm currently downloading the updated rimword for the hotfixes but for some reason the file is showing 2hrs to download.

My ISP is Virgin Media and I'm on the 50meg package. All other downloads fly. Am I missing something?

I'm noticing the problem too; your guess is as good as mine, but it could have something to do with the transatlantic cable, and how some ISPs aren't playing nice with each other over traffic between networks.

Well its reassuring at least i'm not the only one. Over 2 hours to download 78mb is very worrying!

what is that, 10-11 KB a sec? if not slower?
That's disconcerting, have you given your ISP a ring about the slow speeds?
In this day and age, even in a rural area you should at least be running 10x that speed. :/

Pretty much yes. I downloaded a game on Steam after to see if there was a problem. Also ran a speedtes.  Both had no issues.
Very odd.

What about downloads off the Forums, for mods and such?

To be fair I've not tried any mods. I wanted to play the vanilla version first. I may look into that tomorrow and see what happens.
