Yuna and Beulah

On one of my colonies, I bought two huskies together. One male, Yuna, and one female, Beulah.
A pirate raid attacked. My kill box was set up improperly. One colonists died due to turret cross-fire. Another was shot by a tribal sharpshooter when trying to lure them back to base.
The get past our defenses and it's chaos. Yuna bravely runs out to stop a melee attacker from capturing a downed colonist. Yuna is killed, but the pirate is deterred long enough so we can save our colonist.
Yuna is buried with a deer and the two dead colonists. Beulah mopes around sadly, and Yuna's bed is empty.

About a month later I get a message saying a husky is pregnant. I'm confused, wondering whether my lab can cross-breed with my husky. But no; they're both females.
The I remember that the pregnant message doesn't show up until the third trimester. Which means that Yuna must've died knowing Beulah was carrying his puppies.
He died to protect his unborn puppies.
The husky puppies will grow up without a father.
RIP Yuna.
