Whats the status of this game?  I used to get emails frequently with a link to new patches, but is stopped quite a while ago.  Is the developer still supporting the game and preparing new updates?

Haplo

You can read about what is being worked on here.
So the next update will come soon(tm) ;D

Tynan took a winter vacation after v12, but the new update I suspect should be out quite soon, and be very good.

I hope the version is really fixed, better 4-7 more days, then a fix after a few days and start all over again

I agree, BUT, to be frank, a large sample size of "public" always catches more bugs than a select group. So invariably (especially with all the people playing / you-tubing it) There will be a few bugs caught after release no matter what.

hell, there's been some glitches around since its creation which weren't noticed / fixed till alpha 12  as well, so I wouldn't be surprised if this continued.

Emergent gameplay means Emergent glitches =) Thats just the way it works unfortunately. And rimworld has a LOT of emergent gameplay, so the possibilities for glitches are massive. Even though testing before release gets a majority, theres always one or 2 small details that get though, but hopefully never gamebreaking or obvious.

I think the only thing they are currently doing is fixing, balancing seems done, no idea, but it is my guess.

For example? I would like to know, maybe some bugs are not easy to fix.

Well alright, heres one in 12 and under that I only noticed / reported in the last few months....

Projectiles can go through walls if within the "miss" area.

To test, fire a mini-gun at a 1 tile thin wall with several pawns behind it. You will notice some pawns get hit, because the walls do not actually block projectiles if they miss and go further than the target

This was around for 12 alphas, and nobody noticed.... Or at very least, they didn't report it if they did.

ALSO, ease of fixing isn't the issue so much as theres SO many possibilities for glitches / unintended effects, because the game is so deep, complex, with so many features, that these things need to be discovered first. If they aren't discovered, they cant be reported, and obviously cannot be fixed

Tynan

Every alpha we fix a bunch of issues that have been around for years.

With a game of this complexity, it's amazing the number of issues that can hide out for years, even with thousands of players, before being brought to light.

KillTyrant

I clicked the link provided and I have a weird question

New chronic diseases: Carinoma, asthma, hearing loss

Is that suppose to be Carcinoma as in cancer? Or is there something specifically called "Carinoma". Im not trying to be a grammar nazi or anything, Im just curious is all.

anonymous456

I mean the chances are like 99.99% it's supposed to be Carcinoma, but maybe it's some new kind of genetic disease caused by space radiation that just sounds almost exactly like this existing word.

KillTyrant

In that list I noticed alot of "im going to ruin your colony"-esque entries. Maybe Carinoma is someone being obsessed with cars to the point of being debilitated and that the only time they are happy is when one of those trade caravans come around with their wagons and such. Maybe? :P

harpo99999

I did a quick google of the 'carinoma' and it appears to be related to worms (maybe related to dune's worms or they might just be similar to the tremors worms, (or in really benign form the parasite worms that allready 'infect' most species)

AllenWL

Speaking of noticed bugs, will A13 have pets that actually nuzzle and minified furniture that is actually sellable?

Coenmcj

Uh, the pets already nuzzle, if somewhat uncommonly, if they're not happening to you, that's a bug.

I did a "quick" google search as well. I looked over the first 10 pages of query and all I got was Carcinoma. Would you mind linking me your find?
