Pirate and crew?

Hello there.

I have not purchased this game yet, but I've been stalking it for about a year waiting for a steam release (I wish a steam key was still assured... )

I play Deadlands and the Firefly RPG's, and I am curious if the devs are amenable to a full "crew" write-up for a Pirate, and if "Pirates" have to be bad guys or what.  I tried to find an answer to this but didn't see anything so sorry if this is a repeat.

That's a good question.  You could certainly write multiple characters, but even then there's no guarantee they'd show up as a crew.  I suggest you PM Tynan and ask him about it.
