Challenge difficulty.

If you outnumbered attack snipers, launchers and gunners first. Pistol doesn't deal much damage and even melee users only carry gladius and knife which deal barely half of longsword. Also craft plasteel longsword asap with full leveled smith; damage 21 and 27 make huge difference because 27 damage on a leg insta kill pawn.

Edit : Actually, easiest would been steal shell, steal food or deconstruct mortar or all of it.

I've always researched mortars as quick as possible and set up one regular and one incendiary, then purchased or made shells as soon as possible.

I rarely have issues with sieges.

I figure taking them out and having them attack where I'm fortified is generally more cost effective than going to them, then trying to haul everything back from there.

Also cuts down on injuries to my colonists.

Isn't uranium longsword supposed to deal the most damage?

I think uranium increase blunt damage and reduce sharp damage. It also take 1400 uranium to craft a sword, just not viable.

Easiest? Throw everything you have at it and start moving to offensive positions before the siege party even pops out of the pods.

Raids are like a balloon. Just get a long rifle to pop it, then let the raiders pour into your defenses. If they only have a pair of marksmen, it is easy to exploit cover and do this. Pick off the sniper, or a few pawns on the outliers. Can usually push them to attack before they finish building the mortar.

I try to get as many sniper rifles I can and keep them stored for sieges, then I craft an m16 looking thing for each shooter .  leave any slow movers at home.  take everyone else near the siege but still out of range of the sniper rifles then move your snipers just far enough ahead to hit the closest guy to you. put the other shooters with short range weapons to one side and any brawlers near and kill that first guy, then repeat that step

eventually they will charge you . as they come near the other shooters help . if you are lucky . they give up and leave or decide to assault your colony directly . Its then you either finish off a few more till they flee, or run back to your choice of killing machine . I make a long tunnel that keeps turning 360 .

it goes door wall door wall and I eventually end up with 80 to 100 steel deadfall traps . this all leads to a kill box with an easy escape for them into a second small kill box with just 1 stone door they need to break through to get outside. works pretty well

It really depends on your base setup. If it's mostly open, your best chance is to charge them while they're still setting up. If you're in a mountain, charging is generally still the best option. But if you're low on firepower or colonists, it's quite possible to wait out the siege, assuming you have enough food.
