If we could convert the Rock Debris into rock walls that could then be placed back in the world like the rock that already exists. Of course it wouldn't be free my thought was it had to be passed through some sort of machine (compressor maybe? idk). It could be stored as an actual item (like metal or food is), so held in stockpiles.

This seems like it would be beneficial because then we could replace walls that are destroyed by raiders or the automated turrets etc.

Any thoughts? :)

You could make a brick wall mod in Alpha 2.

Make a work table for brickmaking. Make a brick item. Make a recipe that converts rock debris into bricks, which the table can use. Make a brick wall building which costs bricks to build, doesn't conduct electricity, and doesn't burn. Done :D

Maybe I'll do it.

Perhaps related to camo? 'Rebuilt' stone walls may go unnoticed by raiders...

I would LOVE to have fireproof-but-nonconductive brick or stone walls.

Fireproof is fine, But we will have mortars and other siege engines, so they will still be able to be destroyed.
So dwarf fortress in space eh?
I love it.

They should be a little weaker to a direct hit from an explosive but since they can't be lit on fire they'd be much more effective at taking stray shots from it. Basically, a trade-off you have to way.

Maybe the brick walls cannot be repaired, only deconstructed (leaving the raw material for bricks) and then rebuilt. It will add diversity.

Or... the colonists could research concrete. Then they can manufacture the resource cement bags, which allows them to build mortar-and-stone walls with unprocessed rock debris, right on site.

(After all, bricks are not made from rocks, but from clay.)
