Rimworld Steam Release

Hello fellas.

A friend of mine told me of Rimworld and I am very fascinated by what I've read so far about it. I am curious if Tynan will release it after the Steam Summer Sale. Is there any difference of preordering it here http://rimworldgame.com/? I prefer to have the game on my Steam Account. Will I perhaps get a Steam Key if I preorder it now?

I have been waiting for new version to come out and wonder how things work with getting new download links for those updated versions.  But it's even better if it's on Steam.  I do hope, and kind of expect, to get a key to add it to my Steam account and not have to repurchase the game.

Tynan is purposely trying to avoid the Steam Summer Sale.  Last I heard, the Steam release is still tentative for this July, but that *could* change if need be.

There's no difference that I'm aware of between ordering from rimworldgame.com and ordering through Steam (except that if you order through Steam, I don't think you get the "regular" SendOwl download link since you've already got the Steam download link).

I bought RimWorld back during Alpha 3, and I also hope & expect not to have to purchase it a second time if I want it integrated in Steam.  Technically that's just my opinion, but see this thread for more details:

Gotcha, and thanks for that link milon.  Honestly, when it comes out on Steam doesn't bother me one way or another, and if I were Tynan, I would avoid the summer sale as well.

I don't know if this has been asked before or not and if it has my apologies, but are there any plans to release RimWorld on GOG?

Thank you for the responses. Tynan cleared stated he were able to generate keys that he could hand out but cannot sell them now ofcourse. I then, do really hope there is a possibility of getting that key for Rimworld on Steam as soon as Alpha 14 comes up.
Though as stated in the FAQ section of the website:

Will I get a Steam key?
– It depends when you bought the game. If you bought the game on or before November 4, 2014 you will get a key when the game is released on Steam. If you bought the game after that, we will try to get you a Steam key but Valve's policies prevent us from being able to guarantee this.

Valve's Policies, I have no clue about but it sounds like they will do their best to get us a key.
I am unaware of the game has achievements but I bet that when you get the game on Steam, all previous saves are not there and the achievements will be reset. The save files can "probably" be put into your Save Folder, ofcourse.
