[A14 BUG] Bonded animal death

At least I think this is a bug. It should be if it is not. I had a cougar that was bonded to one of my colonist. I ended up selling the cougar to some traders. A couple of hours (play time) later, I got a notice that my bonded colonist was sad because his bonded animal died. The animal was no longer with the colony. How would he know the animal died?
