if you could make your colony a trader world kinda deal with farms and modify your foods for buffs/debuffs and you could have to research and build a big facilty to make and maintain your supply of Gm foods and you could test them on muffalos and boomrats :)

A GM food buff/debuff system would be awesome! You could purchase a genemod that applies to all hydro tables that means accele-potatoes grow 20% faster, but have a 3% chance to fail and die.

A good tradeoff for a growth speed buff would be a 3-5% chance to poison your colonists, in the same way fire damage affects them.
