There's a special thingy in the game called Mote, reponsible for effects like smoke, lightning glow or sleep "zzz" bubbles.

I can't find where these are defined. Can anyone please help me?

Tynan told me, that they are currently defined in the game code, not the XML files.

Gonna revive this, can we define our own even in DLL, im having trouble locating where things like Mote_DustPuff def is defined in the code.

edit - hmm it looks like they are defined from textures in:

ThingDefGenerator_Motes

Can I therefore inject my own by adding a texture to that directory in a mod....*goes off to try*

seem I cannot, but the motes that are there already are usable for my purposes, for thos interested check out my railgun in my More Weapons mod...its hella fun...Tynan will have the ability to add our own motes  eventually?
