hi All,

I just started this myself just to mix up the end-game a bit, not sure if it'll actually work out but if you want to tag along I welcome you updates/stories/screenshots!

Description: Build your dream Aztec City of Gold! This is a survival challenge as well as "flaunt your wealth mgmt/base design skills" challenge where aesthetics are as important as efficiency.  Base design is open to interpretation but must as least have a "central complex" made completely out of gold. The bigger it is, the bigger your bragging rights. Must follow all the rules:

Rules:
1) Randy Extreme Tribal Start.
2) must build in Mountain+Jungle tile
3) must be built as a mountain base (can disable infestation), or in a area surrounded on 3 sides with mountains, and have only 1 real entrance (it is supposed to be a "hidden" city of gold, after all).
4) may have many "fake" trap entrances - make Indiana Jones proud!
5) Cannot rescue escape-pod refugees unless its a relative. Either let them die or capture and sacrifice them at the alter. Yes you'll need to build an altar of some sort. use your imagination.
6) Cannot craft guns, power armors, turrets, components, or mortar/shells. Trading for them or looting is OK.
7) No electricity (except for optional #8 below)
8 ) Optional - (mainly to make trade for gold easier via orbital trade): the "Gods" have granted you the magical powers of electricity in the form of  ONE fuel OR solar generator so use that power wisely!

I look forward to your (mis)adventures.

EDIT: Updated rule 8 slightly to allow solar

All floors, walls and furniture must be made out of gold, no?

Sacrifice at an altar? Rim of Madness Cult mod has Altars and Sacrifice! You just... have to worship an Elder God.

Correct - everything in that "central complex/structure" must be made of gold.  Obviously if you can make your WHOLE base out of gold then more props to you (doubt that's possible tho...) The idea here is just to give players some flexibilty in base design.

I only play vanilla but you are welcome to use any mod you want to add to the experience as long as it doesn't violate the rules. Obviously any mods that break the challenge (ie, a mod that makes gold mine spawn everywhere. lol) you probably shouldn't use...

You can worship elder gods for favor, when you get X favor they "level up", giving you more spells. Some of them could be op like dagon's treasures (gives you chest with jade, silver and gold) and cthulhu's psychic wave thing that takes down ships that can give you gold.

That sounds fun actually, have at it if you want to use that mod for this challenge. It sounds like it just give you more ways to get gold but not necessarily easier? (You still have to commit to worshipping and what not) . I already started mine in vanila so ill see that thru.

Thx for the info tho!

Like it! Was thinking of a next playthrough after Rhadamant challenge. I'm going to give it a try, with:

  • cassandra extreme
  • tribal essentials mod
  • stay with neolithic tech
  • no loot, burn the gear, you can butcher the corpses
  • build large golden totems in your tomb/ altar
  • use/ wear only what you craft

For info, ten years in the Rhadamant challenge, i didn't look specifically for gold but with tribal tech i've only got 1600 gold in cash, though lots of bionic parts and artifacts, that's why i'd focus more on golden totems first!

But i like the idea of a full tribal jungle base.

Well, worshipping isn't that hard.
BUT, you need to unlock Dagon/Cthulhu for those spells by research (they're random I think), worship which takes a few days, then find alive prisoners to sacrifice. Sacrifices can go right and give the stuff, mixed that, for example spawn one of the eldritch abominations from the mod with your treasure or just fail, giving a mood debuff and no treasure (all sucesses give mood buffs)

I feel as though a "POWER FROM THE GODSSSS" thing would be more of a solar generator than a fueled one, y'know?
"I set fire to my sheet of sailcloth and drape it over the skeletons."
"Okay I'm...I'm going to need you to roll for a personality check for that one."

Hmmmmmm very true lol,

Originally I just wanted to allow the smallest output generator bc i didnt want the base to become too much based on electricity. But i see yout point. I guess with solar it offers a different set of limitations (battery, eclipse, etcc) that it shouldn't break the game. I'm going to update the rule in the OP

My El Dorado: https://imgur.com/a/hlt1W

Cassandra extreme, no looting, tribal essentials mod + QoL mods.

Diseases were a real pain at start, then with peno and good doctors things got better. Four years in the base is safe, the sacrificial chamber built, wealth building up, the only thing i really need is more gold, but being unable to call for traders as tribals i have to form my own caravans and travel through the mountainous jungle... i have a total of ~250 gold so far, hope my caravan could make it to bring back enough gold for a small totem, which would be the end of El Dorado !

Looking good! Mine is still in its infancy after mechanoids killed the first couple of attempts (RL also got in the way =P). My latest one looks promising and since i decided to have one power generator for orbital trader i should get gold easier than u.. I'm still hoping for a "halls of Erebor" type of final base but we'll see if i'll ever get there (or even possible).

Thanks for sharing!
