Workbench Materials should affect work speed

Today I found out that you can make benches like stonecutter tables and tailor benches from materials other than wood. However, I also realised that the material doesn't affect work speed.

Wouldn't it make sense for the materials involved in the construction to affect the work speed of the table?

They affect Hitpoints and flamability of the workbench.
Work speed sounds kind of dumb, or do you work faster on a wooden kitchen counter or one made from stone or steel ?

I know they already affect the HP and flammability.

But changing the workspeed would actually make a plasteel tailor bench a viable option, not just a way to waste 300 plasteel on just giving it some extra HP and reduced flammability.

Its not like a turret works any more accurately because you made it out of plasteel. You already have the option to make a nonpowered and a powered tailoring bench.

I have a Gold and a Silver drug manufacturing benches. Not because I could get a bonus but because it looks cool. Hmmm I'm going to rip my third wooden one out of the medical centre and make it out of plasteel just to match the beds. I'll upload a screen shot tomorrow.

Thats why I build all my workbenches out of the cheapest material possible :)

So I have ressources for important stuff like Dropships and Power Armor.

I can't agree if we're simply talking about making a stonecutter table out of plasteel. However, I've thought about dabbling into a mod that focuses on automation.  You would be using more resources such as gold, components, power consumption in the workbenches.  I decided not to though cause it doesn't seem worth all the work and the fact that I probably won't use it.

The workbenches don't just include the bench itself, though: unless you think the pawns are cutting bricks with their bare hands (I think you need at least 10 melee for that "break a brick with your head" trick!). The workbenches include an (implied) set of tools as well: knives for the butcher table, pots and pans for a stove, chisels for stonecutting tables, etc.

It seems like a reasonable extrapolation that a steel or plasteel bench (for example) comes with a set of steel/plasteel tools (as opposed to the "generic" set that all pawns have). I, at least, see no problem with this suggestion: it provides incentive to upgrade one's work equipment the same way one upgrades combat equipment, instead of relying on the same old cactus-wood butcher slab.

Hmm comes with better sets of tools eh? I should've thought of that.  It makes a bit more sense then.

You have a choice: you may build your workbench from cheap wood, improve its endurance with steel, make it hard to destroy with plasteel, make it unflammable with one of five types of rocks or show your frivolity with jade or gold.

So no, it wouldn't make sense for the work speed to be depended by the material.

So one of gold one of silver one of plasteel. With matching chairs no less. That's the only bonus you should get is how cool they look  ;D

Are those stools ? Are you to cheap to build dining chairs ?  ;D

I have to admit the arguement about the tools sounds convincing .. but I would rather put the tools into the allready existing tool cabinets and reduce the connection radius .. no longer shall 2 cabinets be enough for 20 benches ..
noticed myself this argument is stupid if only 2-4 pawns work in the room at the same time.

Special Tools then. Kitchen Tools, Mechanical Tools, Craftsmen Tools ..

Yep I don't want them to get to comfy. I also think the dining chairs don't look right at a work station.

I agree with the work bench Idea Sounds interesting.

nice base Vlad0mi3r, also like the dining view ha. Got full screenshot?  Bases with small details like that are hard to come by.

I'll try but I think the resolution will be really bad. I'll try tomorrow. (at work at the moment)
