Bring back seasons

I'd like to ask the dev team to re-implement the time of year as Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter instead of these mashed up months like decembary. The reason being it was a lot more practical to just glance at the season when you need to see it and instantly know what you could expect temperature wise. Also, this probably is a pain for all of the Southern Hemisphere players as the months correspond with northern hemisphere seasons. So I would very much like to see the return of season names, or at least an option to toggle which you see.

The months actually correspond to the seasons on the planetary hemisphere where you land; if you land in the southern hemisphere, you'll see a summer in Decembuary or whatever it's called.

It should also (new in B18 from what I've seen) display the local season in the bottom-right corner by the date.

I do agree that the current names are a bit silly, but that's just me. It's not hard to mod them to something else if you want.

FalconBR

Wait, so, now, if I am at the lower hemisphere, I get the winter in the middle of the year and when I go north,. they change to the end of the year?

There should be a mod to change the seasons to normal IMO. But it makes little difference you can tell what's what sooner or later.

I mean, I know it's not that big of a deal, but I think it would be a nice QOL In my opinion

The change was made deliberately so that there would be a universal time system for the planet you are on.

The reason for the change is the fact that you can move and migrate around the planet, and if you cross the Equator in Fall, the next season can no longer be called Winter.

In Australia, they don't call the hot months of December/January "Winter".  It's Summer.  But if the game kept the quarters of the year named after Seasons, then whenever you migrated across the equator, you'd be experiencing Hot Winters and Cold Summers.

And so to have a system that works for all parts of the world equally, Time and Seasons were de-coupled, and we have Decembary, Aprimay, Julaugust, and Septober.  I for one find the month-mash names amusing and quirky.

You make a valid point, Hans

I rather wish for a better temperature gui than for different special names, since Seasons are also shorter or longer than a month, depending on your colonies location, which would lead to even more confusion.

I mainly dislike the silly new names. Anything else plus a better indicator when it's time for sowing would be great.

Man, I love Septober! And you, sir Hans, you are quirky!

Actually I would remember the point that the seasons are all the same, whatever name they have.

The quarter names do take some getting used to.  But yes, what we REALLY care about, rather than "is it Spring or not?" is "When can I plant my Potatoes?".

Maybe I repeat myself, but I think a big, visible Temperature/ Weather  Display might be a step in the right direction.
