What is the hardest thing to survive for you?

For me:... a psychic wave of boomrats.  Even if prepped for them, I end up with 1/3rd to 1/2 of my crew in recovery beds.

Just finished my first 12 hours or so of playing Alpha 4.  Nicely stable once I learned how to read and made the transition from how things were in Beta 3.  Played on the biggest board with the highest graphics setting.   Only thing I noticed was a slowdown if I zoomed out to far - noticeably faster if kept zoomed in a bit.  But that was with cudaminer beating up my GPU.

Only three other general comments:

1)  Man those guys want to mine.  Even if mining isn't their highest priority, given them something to do and they are all over it.

2)  Even with repairs as all 1's, I had a tough time getting them to pay attention to block walls that needed repair.  As much as they like mining, fixing stone walls seems to be their least interest.

3)  Nice not having to defends against 50 attackers.  I think the most I had was a half dozen or so using Random Randy.

Great job Ludeon!

The hardest thing are currently enemy raids.

Everythings else rarely happens because I get wiped.

I play on Chill Callie Classic, to get into the groove again after not playing for quite some time, but Miss Storyteller doesn't like me it seems.
I build up a full base, food and power are no prob 8). The first 2 raids are challenging but okay.
The very first one is usually jsut one dude, which 90% of the time I can capture.
Second Raid is usually 2-4 Raiders, mostly Tribals, sometimes Pirates, simple Weaponry. Tough but beatable.
These Raids happen in roughly 2 days time.

The third raid. Oh boy, the third raid.  :-\
In about 12 hours after the second raid, another raid happens.
Pirates, 5-8, modern weaponry and/or loads of explosives. Frags and Molotovs everywhere.
They obliterate my 3 (maybe 4 colonist, if the first Raid gets captured) with ease. I only have pistols and the starting Lee-Enfield to defend myself. Turrets get obliterated by the enemy M24 snipers, and my colonist get set on fire by incendiary launchers. :'(
So yeah. No chance. I keep restarting over and over again, it always happens the same way.

I feel like Grenades and Molotovs shouldn't be an unlimited ammo weapon. Just balancing wise you know.

What storyteller is this?

It's Chill Callie Classic.
The "Easy" Cassandra type.
It's not EXACTLY the same every time, sometimes the time intervals are somewhat different.

But the overall pattern remains the same.

Peaceful everything, then 3 Raids over a few days with the third Raid being an overpowering force I cannot defeat with what I have.

I get up to around day 35 to 50 when it usually happens.

I use the following mods:
Wood Tweaks
Target Practice
Shield Generator

Can you upload a savegame just before or during one your third raids? I'm quite interested.

Also, on which days do these raids occur, exactly?

Here it is,
BUT

This time it just so happened that the raiding faction was one of the Tribals.

I managed to scramble and build two turrets and a sandbag barrier before they attacked,
and I managed to rout them without much effort.
They didn't have 3 Grenadiers and Charge Rifles after all...

It's the best I can do right now,
I will try to recreate the scenario, maybe I just had some freak sequence of statistical anomalies?

Blast, I can't load it because of your mod(s).

Playing Alpha 4c, in my first gameplay for this version, I chose Randy and  he sent me a raider atk with 6 enemies on the second day. lol Got wiped out without even been able to finish houling the food to the storage zones lol.

I'll start another colony tonight, I'll use chilli cassandra this tim, lol.

I had the same thing with Randy lastnight using 4C...but it was a mech worm with that fire launcher at around day 10. Didn't care that I lost, it was hilarious as it BBQed the muffalo  that my hunter was running to to drag back home (as soon as I noticed it was a mech...I didn't bother to scramble to kill it, I knew it would be almost impossible and if I managed it my colony would be damaged beyond repair before a new raid came).

All in all it was fun to loose like that. I too am going to start a new game soon but this time on the true easy mode to test out some build order sequences and defense strats.

Solar flares are the hardest thing for me to survived when they are paired with a raid.

This.  It seems like the AI on anything other than Phoebe Friendly or Randy Random does this at some point during a game.  For me it is usually late in the game, in the 100s of days, and it'll be like shwoop here's 2 envelopes m8, enjoy 90 cave ppl with no electricity for your turrets.
If I could into C# I'd try to make a mod for proofing electronics against solar flares, like twisted wiring and faraday cages/walls with faraday cages.

A research option that takes a very long time (10,000+) called EM Hardening or something similar. It would prevent solar flares from screwing with your electronics, or have another type of turret that needs to be manned to fire, not auto fire like the current ones that are not impacted by electricity but by man power (fires 2 shots, upgrades makes it 3 shots, slightly less damage than the auto turret)

The colonists ignore EVERYTHING that isn't in a Home Zone (-_-)

Colonist: "Oh, that wall is going to claps if someone as much as look at it too hard... but it isn't in a Home Zone so who cares?"
So many ideas... so little time.
Silence is the worst answer.

Tynan

Sometimes players decide they want to abandon some structures and don't have time to deconstruct them. Removing the home zone is how you indicate that they area should no longer be maintained.
