I think that the RimWorld must have multiplayer mode, at least, in any form. I refers to such games as "Don't Starve", "Terraria", "Minecraft" etc. These games become popular exactly after multiplayer integration.

I don't think so, unfortunately. :-\

But there's a mod called Phi which adds multiplayer but it doesn't let you see each other player's bases but you can still chat with each other and send each other items and supplies and even colonists to each other. It's close to multiplayer but more in the social interactions with your buddies. It's still isn't out for V1.0 however.

One "happy family" in the rims...

Yeah but I think that would be enough and actually fit the game nicely, like just having multiple players on the world, in this mod that's how it works?

All 3 of those games were immensely popular before multiplayer.

Don't Starve doesn't even have multiplayer, Don't Starve Together is a separate game with it that came out after Don't Starve had already become a top seller on Steam.

But at this point it's basically a confirmed no for Multiplayer, especially right now when what we get for the game is basically what we currently see, tossing in Multiplayer now just isn't possible.

Third_Of_Five

Yeah, I pretty much agree with everyone else here. Multiplayer is basically a confirmed "no" and I think that's a good thing. Rimworld is just one of those games that is perfectly fine without multiplayer. In fact, many of my favorite games, such as Kerbal Space Program, Prison Architect, and Cities: Skylines, don't (and shouldn't) have multiplayer, and they were still very successful. Some games are just not built for multiplayer.
And honestly, how would a Rimworld multiplayer server even work? How would a player-controlled colony function when the player is offline? Would they still get raided? Would they still have to produce food to sustain themselves? It just doesn't work. And even if you could make it work, you would have to modify the basic game mechanics so much that it would become completely unrecognizable compared to singleplayer. Honestly, the more thought I put into this, the more absurd the idea becomes.

And as someone else pointed out, there is already a mod for it anyway.

NeverPire

Rimworld has already sold 1 million copy, so it is already popular ^^
I will never do worse than what I do now.
It's what self-improvement means.

Maybe, maybe version 2.0 will have multiplayer mode,
Because I am from A16 to version 1.0, I'm looking at forum and steam news about multiplayer games all the time.
