Can you please stop posting news on adblock unfriendly https://www.rockpapershotgun.com ?

You can't read the news unless you turn off the adblock (and watch the ads) - what has that to do with update news of rimworld???

bobomite

I can read articles there with Adblock Plus.

Why even use that site then? I don't think Tynan actually releases news there. They just happened to run an early article based on his releasing B19. Tynan officially releases his news here on this forum and on his blog on this site: https://ludeon.com/blog/

Exactly.. but that's what they link to on steam under rimworld "news". Why not use the steam itself to post the news content on? Or link to his own blog?

Ahh. I see what you are saying now. I wasn't aware the devs did the posting to that news page on Steam.

I didn't think they did. I think I remember seeing some quite unfavourable or tangential (game only mentioned in passing) news pop up for some games.

Pointing to external news sources is seen as more legitimate than the devs posting news themselves. For many reasons. The perception is that most devs are biased in that they try to present their game in the best light possible, due to the amount of work they put in. Or in some unscrupulous cases, like EA, will outright lie to get more PR and attention to their game.
Tynan, obviously, does not suffer from or have the reputation of being unscrupulous, but even he would have at least some bias no matter how hard he may try not too. To avoid the chance of being perceived as trying to "control the story" it is usually best to let third party news organizations tell the story for you. Preferably from many sources.
Plus there is always the excitement of your work being considered news worthy.(also the devs don't control who puts up a news story about their game. Just because RPG put one up doesn't mean he asked them to)

You'll notice the Rimworld Steam page also has news stories from EuroGamer and PC Gamer.
(EDIT: Old stories, but still shows that multiple sources are considered)

weird the escape button does not do anything for me as well.

I for one don't go to the Steam News feed for unbiased 3rd party news sites. I go there to read news posted by the devs of the game.

I also use adblock and just find news elsewhere.

I never got how pawns in the game could have such insanely bad reactions to such mundane things.
Then I came to the forums.
