How about having an action for beds similar to colonist/prisoner reservation but for visitors?
The visitor could reserve the bed and while the bed exist and have access to food and the mood level it's ok they stay at colony and wander arround.

It'd be even cooler if they gave you silver to use beds/eat food depending on the quality.

Hotelworld anyone?  ;D

... then if alcohol is added, you could make a saloon for visitors to go to as well, and really get that western feel going.

I like where this is going.

Its much better than the kill all the visitors with collapsing roof trap I've got if there are no enemies around.

It would be nice to be able to get the visitors to chill in a hotel you've built rather than in that one area in the middle where if they go insane are going to blow up all your mortars and where your colonists get killed in the crossfire

oh beta how do you spring your roof trap? =P
I've been wanting to build one but it seems real effort to build area to generate roof first

can you saw off the edges of the roof with no roof zone
or do you have to deconstruct the corner bits that keep the roof up?

BetaSpectre

The best way to spring the trap is to leave only one (stone) wall with about 1-20 HP then draft a colonist to force fire on it (the target practice mod seems to let colonists force fire or its been around)

Alternatively you could draft a colonist to decon the wall.

You'll need to hit those free loaders twice to kill them so I usually have two one by the entrance and one at the other end of the entrance. The trap needs to be about 6 blocks away from any other support since the AI is simple you can probably predict movement

Turrets can also force fire, but are unreliable for this use. Mortars are an obvious no no xD.

When building the roof its just like building a box then removing all but one square. If you don't know where the freeloaders will enter then don't try it out. I recommend testing each trap prototype in Dev mode first.

the only reason to make a trap like this is to kill allied pawns without taking the reputation hit. Well at least that's my Experience.

But instead of the roof trap its better if you get the misc mod, then just lock allied pawns in a room until they starve to death. Unless the game starts lagging too much.

I only resort to offing my allies when they prove worthless in enemy encounters.

Great idea! This could be an alternative way to build relations with factions, instead of just bribing them with silver.

What is it with you and necroing threads lately? If you have a question that deserves a new thread make one, don't go digging out months old threads.
