I read the forums a lot in the last week, but didn't find anything about this question. So Is there a roadmap somewhere? If there isnt, any1 know about upcoming features for the game? I mean things like the dev wanna implement for sure, the only question is when? In other words what is the scope of the game?

I'm mainly interested in actual features, not "just" an extra material, enemy, object whatever.

I was thinking about sending an email/forum message to Tynan about this, but then I thought probably other ppl are interested also in this, thus if u read this, pls share some spoilers about the future of ur game :)

IIRC, Tynan doesn't keep much of a roadmap.  He doesn't want to spoil surprises, and he doesn't want to "commit" to something that doesn't work out or turns out to be a bad idea.  He also doesn't want to limit his creativity or the community feedback.  Again, this is IIRC, and I think his goal is to let the game grow/evolve naturally and become what it "should" be rather than what he _used_ to think it "should" be.

Definitely this. I would only add that a roadmap and list of future features does in fact exist, but hasn't left the comfort of Tynan's personal computer for the above mentioned reasons.
Hi, my name is Matthias and I am a Rimworld Addict. It has been five seconds since my last fix...

Fixed that for you.

I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. - Myself

The dubious quotes list is now public. See it here

Tynan

Milon and others pretty much covered it. This is also in the FAQ on ludeon.com.

I have a giant priority queue of ideas, but it's not a plan or a roadmap in any traditional sense. It's basically just every idea I've ever had for the game, ordered by cost/benefit. And it changes constantly.

Tynan. I absolutely congratulate you on the success of what you've created here. It's quite an achievement for someone to have a vision and make it work as well as you have. Maybe the world would be much better off if people had the willpower to put their ideas into action as well as you have. For that I wish I could knight you Sir Tynan or some other prestigious title.

I have had a burning question though. I think it everytime a new update is put out or basically anytime 'Rimworld' subject matter passes my neurons...

How different is the finished game gonna be from what it is today? Are you to a point where you consider it half complete on function, or nearly to the polishing phase?

I don't necessarily mean to come off as some egotistical jerk, but I play the game, and feel like it's missing something. Maybe currency sinks, maybe more supply and demand/assembly line/subsystems etc. I'm not sure what it is, which makes it hard for me to describe what I feel is missing. I get past a grind and feel like there isn't much after aside from base design. I feel like it's lacking a purpose of some kind.

I can only say that games like Simcity kept me coming back for more and more and I could always load up a city I had played for years sometimes and feel as if there was a need to press on. I also am strongly 'opinionated' to NOT use the spaceship in the game because it ends the game.

I don't quite know how to describe it better and may research other games and return with some better thoughts, but until then I hope I have voiced enough to get an answer for now...

Thanks Sir Tynan!

Re. the picture with features above, posted by christhekiller... Void gods, hm? Sounds interesting - but I hope they aren't supernatural entities, since RimWorld strikes me as not quite fitting that. However, agents of the archailects (i.e. supreme artificial intellects which are unknowable to baseline humans simply for being so far beyond them in scope and capability) would make excellent objects of worship!

Back on topic, I think Tynan is entirely right in keeping his plans agile and movable. Having a too-nailed-down road map is not really suited to the way the game is built, and future inspiration may strike from anywehre.

People worshipping void gods in a sci-fi space colony game is really not shocking. If it's implemented in a way that flows well with the rest, I don't see why not. It opens up a ton of possibilities for story elements/events.

I was actually skeptical about the void God thing too because it didn't seem fitting, but now that you mention archailects I realize if it's done with the implied background story that each void God is the result of the transcendent civilizations (i.e. they became a single super-consciousness in some form), then I'm suddenly very excited about this idea as it then seems very fitting!
