Shields & Melee + Colonist Ideology

Now, when I first started Rimworld, I hated those tribal members, but I had an idea, why not just try to see if my colonists can handle the tribal life? and attempting to mimic that, I failed horribly.

So here comes to Idea #1

Colonist Ideology
Now what I mean by this is, do you have Colonists whom are more or less prepared for a life of the future? Or perhaps a colonists whom would be used to something less advanced, but civilized like a citizen of the Roman Empire?
Or do you just have some Tribal who honestly really does not care about living conditions, as long as its not deadbeat horrible.
Im not exactly speaking about religion when it comes to Ideology, but of course, there's an idea to that as well, but im not atheist, but im not shure most people would be focused on this, but heck, why not add some Moral or Stats? War-Like Religions wouldn't honestly care about the raider's they just murdered brutally (with a lovely Gladius or Firearm) As to a more peaceful or a new rising religion would care.


But my Other Proposal
Shields & Melee Armor!
And no, I don't mean shields of energy or plasma, I mean Shields for Melee, now first off I get this game is not exactly melee friendly or designed for Melee of that like Rome Total War. I merely mean add something to boost a survivors survival rate in a Melee, lets say as I discussed of Roman Ideology, they would be used to lovely melee wouldn't they? so of course when I saw the Gladius in an update video, I thought about Roman Infantry, and so I thought of shields and Possibly Armor designed more for Melee. Now what do I mean by this? wouldn't power armor and body armor be enough? NOPE, maybe Power armor,  but the body armor appears to be a bullet proof vest, and looking at reality, BPV's are made to stop bullets, and bullets only when it comes to standard BPV's. Many Arrows or forms of Melee weaponry can go straight through BPV's, but I understand this is Rimworld, and Synthread and other materials are present, so the idea of "Stronger Reinforcement" or  "Resistant Fabric" could be applied.

Don't you feel good when you have a line of infantry or something and when the enemy breaks down a door, they rush in and you want to fight them head on? well nope, they head straight for your doors. I used to have defenses outside my base, but they still rushed straight to my door instead of engaging my Infantry. Why not prioritize killing off the colonists THEN burning down their home or looting it.

But of course I haven't played Rimworld for a while, because im probably just talking about swords & shields, because ive been of playing Rome total war.....


Nah that couldn't be it. Off to play more Barbarian Invasion in RTW!
