This sounds like a great social experiment. Also a pretty cool way to see how the game pans out for different people.

A query I would make is whether we allow save scumming or that sort of thing. I have a habit of reverting to an autosave when RNG just wrecked me. If the mistake lies with me then I roll with it but when it feels like something in the game mechanics caused a result that I did not expect then I reload. (Also when I forget to remove a roof zone and deconstruct a room or something like that).

On the right path, but the wrong medication.

I like how there's a thing that displays how long you've logged in to the forums. It shows just how many hours you've spent here, never to get back...

I'm guilty of that myself, although it usually has to do with Ancient Ships spawning far more mechs than I anticipate. I plan for x4 centipedes and x5 scythers, and it gives me 8 of each.. Gah, I hate that.

As there is now way to see if you are reusing saves the topic becomes stale quite fast and it isn't the point to see how good you are but what you create :)

so if you need to use a save to get a badly needed colonist back please do so.... it is not the goal to  kill your pleasure  in playing this game while trying to survive 3 years . I do hope that in the future there comes a hardcore mode that prevents reusing old saves like in XCOM

but for now just enjoy yourself and show off your marvels you created

This is a great idea. It reminds me of the civfanatics forum(civilization games), where you could compete with others on the same map and then compare how others did. Im in!

That sounds interesting.
Out of curiosity, what are the storyteller settings of the .zip you've uploaded?

I'm interested in participating too!  But so that I know what I might be getting into (hehe), I'd also like to know what the storyteller settings and difficulty level of the zipped files are set to.

kasimirtlw

if i remember correctly its the 1 char at the level higher then causal
Is there a way to check in game

just had my second raid with 15 pirates : I do love those bionic eyes on my hunter with a LMG :)

For those asking, the game is set on Cassandra, rough difficulty, in a friendly biome (albeit without mountains and choke points).

Here's a picture of my little colony with the layout for the first section of the fortress. Hopefully, we'll get the walls up soon.

funny you started at the same spot as I did
I'll post a screenshot later of my current colony :)

MikhailBoho

With three Geothermals in range and near the center of the map, it's the perfect spot!

The pirate raids are getting annoying. Just had four show up, one with an M-24 and power armor. By some miracle, one of their level 1 shooters in pitch black with a Lee Enfield, managed to shoot Clara three times (with Clara only managing 2 hits). She had to retreat due to blood-loss. Luckily, a group of tribals were walking towards the bad guys and they even managed to kill the one Clara softened up before they died. I gotta get my kill-room up ASAP.

kasimirtlw

looking forward to see that kill room  .
It will be a nice way to see how ppl plan their defences

Tony just died to a frag grenade. RIP Tony.

Oh and yeah, I love looking at pictures of kill-rooms! I'm planning on making it look like a modified version of my last room, but my gosh... there's not enough stone on the map! No mountains means no steady flow of stone or iron. The misery!
