Ideas / Bigger "X" items
September 02, 2016, 08:53:44 AM
It's hard to find them all zoomed out and in messy places. There should be an option in the menu to increase the size. I have a difficult time finding things like corpses and scattered weapons...

General Discussion / Colonist death mood decreases
August 30, 2016, 04:03:59 PM
This always bugs me. One of my colonist's husband died, and she got both the "my friend died" debuff and "my husband died" debuff, totaling -32
for an entire season.
It's really annoying, how can you be someone's husband if you're already fucking friendzoned? Seriously.

Ideas / Coloured Doors, Walls and Fruits.
August 30, 2016, 03:30:45 PM
Fair and simple. We have coloured lights and rugs, so why not have coloured doors and walls to add more to the cosmetic effect?
This wouldn't change gameplay much, it just adds more variety to base building, like, as said, rugs and lamps.
Colouring them would require paint, which needs a specific colour spectrum and mastic, which grows from mastic trees after they are grown to a certain stage. The tree can be cut down for wood, and needs to be replanted after a while.
The paint would be used as coating - that can be used five times before depleting - and can be made at a new possible station called the mortar station. Here is how you get the paint:

Red - Roses
Orange - Daylily
Yellow - Dandelion
Green - Grananas
Blue - Bluranges
Purple - Bluranges + Roses

This brings me to the next idea - fruits! Fruits would come from trees, which would take a lot longer to grow. They are beneficial for infections, mood bonuses and they sell at a good price at the market. They make good snacks, too! Pawns would eat them without mood decrease from eating without a table.
While exploring space, people would find odd fruits that are surprisingly edible. Here are my bizzare ideas for them:

Bluranges - They are blue, very sweet and solid fruit grown from oddly-shaped trees. The trees die off if all the bluranges fall off, as a sign of rebirth. They have low nutrition, but they help against infections and give a mood buff when eaten, and as mentioned, they can be used as paint. They take a while to grow.
Hoonanas - Green with small yellow cracks exocarp and a green innard, sour, donut-shaped fruit grown from a double-hook-like tree. They are as hard as steel while growing, and are extremely soft when mature. The softness gives people an odd happiness, and they can be used for paint. It takes a very long time to grow, and can survive most extreme climates due to their growing nature.

You would get a lot of paint from the fruits.

Give me your opinion on this! I like the idea of fruits being as snacks like chocolate.

Ideas / Being able to move solar panels?
August 30, 2016, 07:34:19 AM
I don't know, it always bugged me. They seem to be the type of structure that could easily be moved.
Also, wasting components just to move it a few blocks to the right is always a bother.
Maybe it's just me, who knows.

General Discussion / Best biome to start a nice base?
August 28, 2016, 02:57:24 PM
I've been considering making a type of fallout-esque survival barracks, and I was wondering what's a good spot for it?
Jungles and forests are fairly boring, honestly.

Ideas / Rideable Camels
August 28, 2016, 01:53:47 PM
Topic says it all.

You can ride camels to traverse deserts quicker, but you would need to train it to do so. Also a possibility is giving camels special bags so you could haul on the go. To make it fair, remove Release from camels and give them the Riding skill. Riding would require 10 training sets.
And different camels for each biome? Camels evolve best to their surroundings, but i'm not sure if this would be the case in jungles. Just throwing this out.

Not sure if this would be more appropriate in "cheapest ideas" but i'll put it here for now.

Ideas / Make Boomalopes and Boomrats great again!
August 27, 2016, 01:51:43 PM
Boomalopes and Boomrats aren't very good farm animals, so I thought i'd give ideas to change that!

How about an event where boomalopes and boomrats start randomly combusting, making boomalope and boomrat farming risky, especially when playing Randy Random. It puts people on edge every time one of those fuzzy wuzzy things enters the field. They should also rarely explode at random. After some testing, this would kill off all tamed boomalopes and boomrats if one blew up next to another(and not because it would kill off some pawns). Ignore this.

Like other farm animals that have wool growth and such, boomalopes and boomrats would shed their sacs. The sacs, like the game explains, contain volatile chemicals, which can be used for numerous things. The sacs can't be used as they are, so they need to go through special processing, which would require a special workbench that specializes in chemical items. You would have to research the workbench, and after researching it, it would open up a few more things to research, each thing doing different things, like clothing, building tools, weapons and machinery. It could be two things:
[1] Each category of items would require their own workbench, thus giving players the idea of making a special room for it. Thus expanding their base.
[2] Each category of items would be available at the current workbenches you have available, such as machining, electric tailoring, etc.
If you wish to slaughter boomrats or boomalopes, they would blow up no matter what. How would you get meat without harming anything? Pawns with taming of 12 or higher can extract the sacs safely. It's like how chefs extract poison from pufferfish.

Possbile items you could make:
- A generator which runs on the chemicals. Like a power plant of some sort. Dangerous to be around.
- Weapons and traps that spread toxic chemicals around the field it was shot, and dissipate after a while, such as smoke grenades and rocket launchers.
- Clothing that gives extra immunity against explosives, but gets damaged after every explosion by a little. A suit that does not give benefit against melee and ranged, but explosives instead, making it good for slaughtering if one has no high taming. Gives immunity when near a power plant.
- Floor and wall tiles that are extra sturdy against explosives. You would need a lot of juice to make one, though.

Gives Boomalopes and Boomrats more meaning, don't you think? I really like their design, and really want them to have a more special role than most animals. Right now they're mostly used as suicide bombs... Mods do give these animals some use, but this is a suggestion to the game itself.
