General Discussion / Dannebrog?

Every time I start a Permadeath colony, the save's name becomes "Dannebrog", the name of the national flag of Denmark. Is this a bug, or a feature, or a gremlin living in my house?

I was trying to find a way to open cryptosleep caskets without putting my colonists in harms way. Can I safely use turret to destroy the caskets, or will that auto-kill the people inside or something?

OK, so after a moderate raid (15 tribals) I managed to take 3 prisoners. All of them were too much effort to recruit, (difficulty 95 was the lowest) so I had my worst doctors patch them up. I intended to release them to get the Relationship buff with their tribe. All of them got infections, so I released them the second they were able to go. In both cases, my warden couldn't figure out where to drag them, so he dragged them as deep as he could into my cavebase (so they had to walk for a day to get to the edge of the map). The first two prisoners got out safely, but the third one decided to leach of my colony for a bit longer. She was mere cells away from the edge of the map when she has a hard mental break. She smacks a boar a few times, them gets knocked out. i almost let her just die, but I arrested her and nursed her back to health AGAIN. When she is able to walk, I release her again. She makes it to about the same spot, when BAM! She passes out due to extreme infection. I brought her back A-STINKIN'-GAIN. By this point I just want to she her go, but I need some payment, right? So I steal her tribalwear and let her go. I'll come back and say if she actually leaves or not this time. Or I might hold her and sell her to pirates. She deserves it now.

I started growing some hay so my animals could eat, but they insist on eating my xerigium! Help?

I had the brilliant idea to shoot a boomalope. I thought the fire wouldn't be too big. I was wrong. My whole colony had to come put the fire out. While they were firefighting, Jay, my researcher, decide to eat his simple meal. So he just set it on the ground and started eating. The derp put his food IN THE GRAZPUTIN FIRE. His simple meal caught on fire, but he just kept eating it. Zero hoots given. What on earth is wrong with him? Who do you think you ARE, Jay? The dagputin Human Torch or something? I checked his needs. I expected to see "Tried to eat fire, -30" or something, but NOOOOOOOO. All he had was "Ate off the ground." How he ate literal fire I will never know.

It specifically says in the description that the Off-topic section of the forums can be used to discuss unicorns, yet I've not seen a single post dedicated to unicorns! Get it together people!

10 chickens wandered into my town. i was hoping I would get lots of new chicks from them, but my pack of attack dogs keep eating them. Is there any way to stop this?

General Discussion / Mood loss for butchering people?

Two-part question:
1) Does butchering a dead person cause a mood loss for the colony?
2) If yes, does the mood loss only effect the butcher, or does it affect the whole colony? (i.e. if my psychopath is the butcher does the whole colony suffer the mood loss)

I love the phrase "incapable of Caring." It makes your colonists sound like heinous hooligans. "Oh? Your grandmother died? I am physically incapable of caring."

Not like I would want to eat my pets, but it seems like a bit of a waste to bury perfectly good food...

Stories / The Tragic story of Squirrel the Pilot

This is the tragic tale of a cursed man. One day my colony was being raided by pirates. I rallied the troops and fought them off, and in the process I took a prisoner. The prisoner's name was Squirrel. After I captured him, I checked his injuries. I had shot off his left hand and destroyed his right lung. Somehow I managed to recruit him. He was always grumpy, and he was horrible at everything because he only had one hand. He couldn't even haul and clean because dumb labor was disabled. Eventually the poor chap went crazy and started punching everything in sight. I didn't want to put any colonists in danger, so I turned a turret on him. He went into shock, but I managed to shoot both his eyes. Now he had one hand, one lung, and no usable eyes. His pain was always at 35%. He died with the rest of my colony when Tynan released a new version of Rimworld.

A Barkeep named Sissy joined my colony. He has the greedy trait. At the moment I have him shoved into the Barracks, mostly because I'm trying to plan his room to fit his "needs." Any idea how impressive his Grazputin bedroom has to be to make him happy?
