Playing pickaboo with boomrats can be tricky, i've done it with wargs, they destroyed my chokepoint before i could think of reparing it (taders didn't help...):

I guess with boomrats it could have been more dangerous.
The snipe and run technique is universal. And if you've got multiple entrances they'll stick to one. You can still micro/work through other entrances, from time to time a few animals will go around, easy to take down.
That said, if the worst of your experience going no turrets is to cower indoors when boomrats surrounds you, it's no big deal.
