Unfinished / Re: [1.0] Starcraft in the Rim

It's an ambitious but it's definitely do-able. I think actually one of the tougher parts would be the art, merging the art styles in a way that looks good.

On the note of equipment, since I've started playing with this I've reached the point where I'm fully producing all of my own equipment and I've come to the conclusion that Combat Uniforms, Combat Jackets and PASGT helmets are the best general outfit excluding power armor or crazy stuff like that.

The Global Work Speed and Global Learning bonuses are far stronger than the bonuses offered by other outfits and helmets - now for the Combat Uniforms and Jackets I guess it's fine that those are the best, although they're maybe too much better as I see no reason to wear the others, but with the PASGT helmet, the Global Learning Rate on that makes it a far more attractive option than any of the more modern MICH or FAST helmets. Just putting that out there in case it wasn't fully intentional.

Either way, been enjoying the mod a lot, good luck balancing this and your career and orders, I understand the complications of that myself.

That went from 'I can't' to 'It's done' real quick, nice work.

It does not, I've successfully utilized the hair mod on its own before I decided I wanted to add the rest of the mods. That said, I've seen used all of them and they're great.

I've got another question though: I've been killing Federation troops and smelting/disassembling their weapons and armour trying to get Crucible cores to put together a Crucible workbench but I only get Foerum and Plasteel -- how do you get the cores?

Just started using this mod for the first time about a week ago and you've done a crazy amount of updating even in that time span, nice work. The whole mod project is a little difficult to decipher, it took me a while to decide which folders I wanted to download off Google Drive, but the content is great and fills the niche between the old west Rimworld and the jump to sci-fi very well.

I like the criminal organizations you're adding now, though I'm cautious to add them to my save game with all your other content (will it all play nice or require a new game?), I think it's a good contrast as MSF, TF141 and Umbra Company do blend together a bit. Especially since in my current game, I used the MSF start scenario and immediately allied with 141 and Umbra.

Just wanted to say thanks for keeping this up-to-date, it's one of my preferred Security tab mods for being an upgrade to the mini-turrets without being end-game content plasma-augment nuclear battleship artillery.

Releases / Re: [1.0] TropiCKAPP Rainforest Mod

Cool mod, never happened upon it before, but I practically always start out in the jungle so this looks great.

Wasn't really sure how well Warcraft would blend with Rimworld, but your realization is actually pretty good. Nice work, keep it up.

That's weird! Would it be ok if they spawned bricks instead of chunks? Also, is it the only problem with the mod with multiplayer?
Sorry for the delayed response.

I think it's not the chunks specifically but the act of spawning them randomly, I believe the multiplayer code isn't capable of recognizing that behavior and causing a desynch because the chunk (or probably any item) will appear for the primary player but not any secondary ones. Also, having played for a number of hours, I have few problems and I believe the mites chunks are the only one. Thanks for the reply.

So as I understand it, Alpha Animals primarily causes issues with Zetrith's Multiplayer due to Boulder/Pebble mits spawning chunks. Would it be possible for you to make a patch that disables this behaviour, Sarg?

Good to know that wasn't just me ;D

Played pure vanilla for a long time when I got 1.0, when I decided to install all the mods I like, I found that bizarre squirrel meat bug. I had so many mods installed at once I had no idea which one caused it. Anyway, you can activate devmode, place thing directly, select compacted steel and just hit all the squirrel meat with that.

That's beyond cool, I love how ornate they are. The tribals need something to do in all that free time they have, not researching anything.

A limitation is that I can't make the hybrids have low wildness, or else they show up as farm animals in the game's event :(
Just wanted to let you know that Tetraslugs can show up in the wild which I don't think is intended. A tribal raid came in riding three of them which was, well, a lot more challenging than I expected an early tribal raid to be.

Other than that fun, this mod, especially in combination with Alpha Animals, is proving to be pretty fun, if difficult to understand at first.

General Discussion / Re: So when is Tynan returning?

If you check the post that Ramsis is replying to (on page 2) you will note that the poster is quite petulant. Having concerns is one thing. Spouting off some hysterical hyperbole is another. Starvation is not something to wish on someone, least of all for the perceived "abandonment" of an indie game. That is idiotic ranting.
Yes, I see that now, however the ban threat and insults were prior to the death wishes and all that non-sense. While the guy in question is probably an angry child or a troll, I still take umbrage with the game's public representatives threatening to ban people for criticism, even if it strongly worded or poorly founded.

QuoteFrankly, if someone does post inflammatory remarks then a temp ban is an option open to a moderator, provided that they explain why the ban is being given. Threatening a ban if a poster doesn't alter their behaviour is a reminder that this forum has rules and that the moderator will enforce them.
Sure... except that the original post was not inflammatory. It is not inflammatory to say that Tynan may abandon the game, it's a concern.

QuoteI'm all for presenting a friendly face to customers, as long as they in turn respect the forum rules and don't jump on some bandwagon claiming that the end is nigh or other such doomsaying. ;)
While doomsaying and making a big fuss over the end of the game is an over-reaction, I'd say that's mainly just 'cause it's a video game and not because it's unreasonable to have an attachment to your purchases.

Anyway, I just thought that Ramsis came off nearly as over-excited and inflammatory as the other guy, which bothers me more because he, like all of you moderators/administrators, is basically Tynan's personal mouth-piece as long as Tynan is off in Neverland.

I'm not going to ban you despite wanting to, mostly because you're an idiot and just assume the worst to such an umpf degree that you make yourself look foolish. The game is healthy, the development team is great, the game will be finished and you'll have egg on your face :)
Threatening to ban someone and calling them an idiot for expressing worries about a game they are supporting? Is this the kind of customer service we should expect once the game is released?

The exact case he mentioned HAS happened with Early Access games, so many times, it is a very valid concern and as so many have commented, a six month vacation is insane.

I can't even believe a representative of the game would leave a comment like this, it is so amazingly unprofessional.

P.S. Haven't been on the forum in a while and I have not read this thread all the way through, but I was checking because I do worry about the future of the game and seeing moderators threatening bans for expressing such worries doesn't exactly allay them.
