Sorry didnt read them before, but i did read them now and they are kinda diffrent, i did try to constrain myself in the current game mechanic that is in game. Then again maybe new mechanic would be better :D
Anyways its just a idea and alien undead army its just a event example :D

Was thinking about the event system abit more since its quite nicely done and got some ideas to that.
But firstly things that i would like to see is a option to block a door even for colonists so they dont go thrugh it :D
Playing long gets you a bit bored and starting over kinda sux at some point when you got your shiny colony build up, it would be nice to get some of your trained colonists to go and make another colony and ofc getting some support from your existing one.
So basicly you start over, this time not crashed on the randome spot on the new map, with additional resources near you and event menager get new events list opened.
Player loose control of the old colony
Event list is the basic stuff you get like raiders or eclipses, new list got new features that include old colony.
Player would be able to research some tech that allow him to send one of his colonist to scout nerby sector for a colony site, ofc some events and skill check will occur.
Backing up a bit, there is a new tech at first colony stage involved, which is a mainframe/hall9000/gladis or whatever it would be called and yes it would be nice if there would be a event where it go mad :D
Mineframe would be a top of standart research or the thing that cost quite a bit in terms of researching and maybe a few possible trades for resources to build it ( thers nothing like have a processor from uranium :D) all in abilities of the first colony. Its task would be to lower or eliminate the chance of blowing up your electric grid(dependable on reserarcher skill), storing/reciving/sending research data, possible to be able to build and control hauling robot, being a hub for personal computers which could be a nice furniture and for making good coffie(that might be to much but who cares its the future!!!).
Moving forword we are at the new colony we have a new even list unlocked, and we have occasionaly events with transports of resources from our old colony, and we get the new research. So as we start we dont have any of the existing tech again becouse we got it all on our mainframe and paper technology was long forgoten, either we build a new mainframe and get all tech from old colony mainframe or we research everything again and if we get the mainframe up and running thers always a chance for some erros while updating tech so get yourself a good researcher to do the work.
New tech that we can research would be a radio( or some sort of long range communication, and i dont mean the post office:P) so we can communicate with the old colony and get a feedback of what is going on in there ,event stuff like they did send us a transport of food but it got mugged in the half way and we only get half of that or that the colony was baddly demaged but raiders so they stop the transport or a request for some resources and so one.
This include the old colony to be wiped out if ther is no proper response to thier requests for long time, and maybe that the mainframe go mad kill everyone and now is sending a robot raiding party at you :D

Research at the 2nd colony could include some new furniture like personal computer or wall spikes and also new type of food and food machine (or some new dispenser upgrade). Also upgrades could be made at mainframe regarding systems that is connected to like inteligent email filter for your personal computer (no more spam +300 happines :D), turret aiming script, turning off lights when thers is no one in the room ( new storing zones would gone nice as a sensor for this) and so one. And the needed research for next phase is a region scan, we build a scanner and we scan to get that precious info on our computer, also thers also a transport vechicle reasearch and to build.
So we got our new colony all gone good we are big again got alot of colonist and resources and reports from old colony says its all good and we got all research and buildings so whats now ?
Now at a point of number of colonists and after some research we are able to build a town.
Town is a another new event list that merge both colonies into one big one under new name.
So we are send in our new vechicle ( even more resources  and style :D) to more distant region of the planet.
Why distant one? becouse we scanned regions around us and we found that few of them contain the resource that our region dont have. Scanner is not needed for a town but if its present player can see what region got what resource and can choose from them, without a scanner player would go and start at a random region even the ones that dont have any new resource.
And we start again in new map that have or not have new resource, but as we had our transport vehicle we get more resources with us and maybe more colonists. If we got a skilled researcher he can reverse-eginnere our vechicle for even more resources. And we get more resourecs on transport from town again if they get to us alive :D
New distant region might also means that insted of buffalos we get a man-eating plants or other not so friendly inhabitants of the planet.
So we got a town backing us and we get something similar like with the another colony but we also will be able to participate more in the events in the town.
We will get more research that will allow us to build a message board/internet/gossip or something of that kind. This will allow player after usage to read articles of diffrent events that occured somewhere, some stories, news and so one ( who knew my manual dumb assasin got a 1st prize for building the highest building on praxis8). Ability to get more of that kind of transmision will be also and for now mostly to get from passing by ships.
Now about practicipating in town events, town will send requests for resources or for player opinion what to build, and player will be able to send requests to town for restources or what to build in town eventually both could send for new colonists or armed back up.
Now buildings in town are event based as the whole town is but depens on the buildings in town will give player new abilities.
Town might build a research station, research station might unlock player new unncomon tech to research like more spiked wall furniture or suit locker( randome event based ), town my also build a cooking school or a shooting range that will allow player to send one of his colonists (if he have a transport vehicle in colony) to train that skill. Another buildings might be a armed/armored transport that lowes chances of being raided, towns defences that lowers the chance of town being raided and unable to do any of player requests for some time, shop that give player ability to send one colonist and buy something from it ( again if he have a transport vehicle and ofc he can get mugged or killed on the way) or any other stuff that can come to mind .
New research would mostly include the region resources if it have new resources that it will be showed in tech for buildings and upgrades to gether that new resources. Player will also get ability to upgrade his vechicle to make it faster and more secure, maybe a 3d printer to get some more stylish cloths or other stuff that could be buyed from traders as a bluprint.
At this point if your not bored to death with yet building another colony read the stuff under this :D
Player would need a supply to town with certian resources to get it higher, so we got a town and a active colony that got uranium a a region resource, so a certian point (this might be number of days, number of colonist, reserched tech, builded buildings and so on) event manager give us a option to send request to town to scan regions and go to other region with diffrent resources that we dont have yet and to build a colony there and supply town with it. The more colony`s town have the more event list should be good to us in terms of towns events, so we might read at our message board that there was a raid on a town but one of its colony swiftly send a backup armed force and all ended well or that a one of its colony was raided and badly demaged but town sended help like new colonists and resources. Also the more colonies there is a bigger chance that town will be willing to send us more resources and colonists.
Ok so we supplied town with special resources from diffrent regions, helped town to build up lots of special buildings and so one. Now town is ready to become a city, so town change into the city and we are send to make some more backing it up colonies. New event list is unlocked.
City might or might not need new resources, so i will go with version that it dont need new ones but it need more the ones it alredy have. This include making player making same decisions as with town, like making them to build rafineries and upgrade them so they will get more resources from what colonies send them. City will have a chance to build a traders beacon or something similar that give player abilitie to request a visit from specific trader. It will also give a chance for a science vesseal to visit that will send normal, uncomon tech and rare tech ( rare is only event based so it only should be on some occasion on ship). City will also be able to build a planet defesive sturcures that will lower the raiders raids, quick responses teams that will help you with raiders or others forms of life that might emerge from the ground due planet excavations. City will lure more of rider types or even something more heavier like rebel AI army.
It will also provie longer range and more extensive message board infos, this will give player a chance to read more about the universe but also ther is a chance that some researcher had discover some rare tech it will become avaliable to research( mining with pick axe is for girls, real men use MkX Quantum Planet Anihilator), and ofc good old looking for work advert to get new specialized or not colonists.
All this looks like it just to easy well it will depend on even manager, you might get a smooth raid but then again some of reaserchers might excavate a undead alien army that will harras you from time to time, ice caps might start to melt from various human activities on the planet un freezing deadly mosnters, your colony can be taken hostage and bombarded from orbit, plague of agressive bomwats and so one as you fame and abilities improve so might the harship stuff.
But we are getting to the main goal and its a star docks. City will build them and a space ship in them all of this will require alot of resources and reasearch from city and colony side, that will include engine, weapons system, crew quatres, life support, graviti coffie machine, some kind of power generator, ftl drives and so one.
So you build your super Titan Class Tier X MK20 LVL 300 space ship loaded with newest systems and deadliest weapons ready to take the whole armada of aliens form the galaxies combine alone and your a given a option by event menager to fly to some distant planet and crash...

So thats the general ide which become a damn wall of text, sorry and i wont pay for your doc bills :D
im also sorry for my english which isnt to good but hopefully readable in it form and shape.

So regarding general new research and regions/planets.
It would be nice if it would be modable especialy the regions becoue i can alredy see what alien looking regions ppl can make. And ofc the mechanic so i.e. you land in the region or a planet and what you see is a wierd rock that you cant make a dent in it with your pick axe, and you dont have your spare MkX Quantum Planet Anihilator so you need to reasearch atleast better pick axe before you starting building your fallout vault in there, this would also include that its more durable against weapons or event invincible stuff like that.
For the research a did write some way above to get to the diffrent event lists( colony/town/city states) its just a basic and im sure there could be put alot more of fillers or even some stuff to replace the ones that i wrote.
Message board would be nice for extra stuff to get and to know more of rimworld universe and also various events and stories made from community, but i would make a bit of evil thing to getting research out of it, a invisible button under the name or some phrase( like "this is research data") to download this research to your mainframe so player would actually read some of this articled insted of just randomly clicking next (yes im evil more more reading :D)
