it's the RNG... but then again in basebuilder phoebe... any kind of event will be very low... like totally low... raise up a notch in difficulty to get frequent event of everything...

that's why there are mods to choose from and besides that, there's toggle to on/off the mods so why integrate it when it's already there.

if the mod developer got sick of developing any further, there are others who are willing to continue his/her work, especially so if the popularity is high.

awesome idea except for neurotrainer/bionic body parts.

or encounter a deadly time bomb that will detonate the whole colony within few days unless disarm it.
or the room is full of unseen deadfall traps.

try getting a sniper rifle and give it to your best shooter colonist (optional careful shooter trait) and shoot them from afar, but this only works against poison and evil ship, try to make them come out and then take a pot shot at each mechs.

If they come in with drop pods well only your defences will be decided victory or defeat.
