Is it possible to remove a floor / "place" dirt without a pump? I removed a building but can't remove the floor and can't expand my farm

Not that im currently aware of. You will have to wait for a mod to add something i think.

Not being able to pull up flooring when I need to reorganize my layout is a huge peeve of mine right now at this stage of the game. I'm new and still learning so I invariably need to remodel because I initially set things up poorly. I've also now learned to only put flooring down when I'm absolutely sure that's the final layout. Until then I just put up with dirt flooring or stone or whatever's there. It's just an annoyance.

Regulus

I agree, wish there was some way to restore floors to natural states so when I tear a room down there's not a wooden floor stuck out in the wilderness. Would also be nice to be able to build over mud again (perhaps a new research?). Though I always build bases outside so never used the terraformers for in-mountain farming; would be nice to have terraformers back.

I think this is the only design decision / change I've had a problem with since starting playing.

Dev mode has a "regenerate" tool. Try it far away from your base at first, though, since it might have a big area of effect and mess up your base.

Perhaps some kind of research can be added, early-mid level research, that allows the digging up of dirt to place over stone areas, and the ability to rip up placed flooring, or just cover it with dirt as well. And when dirt is dug up, it reveals stone underneath, or something...

Just thinking aloud.

I think I suggested that somewhere too. The beauty of being able to move dirt is that it doesn't give you more growing area, it just allows you to organize your growing areas better. Although it could also be used to convert your dirt floored rooms into smoothed stone. I think, though, that being able to move dirt is a little too unrealistic to make it into vanilla. Maybe someone could add it as a mod.

Hm... As I think a bit more on this I think you can't just have dug up dirt become stone. Maybe we could have it so digging up any floor results in a hole. So to move dirt to a spot with rock you would dig up the rock and end up with a big block, then dig up the dirt and end up with a pile of dirt. Then you put the dirt in the hole where the stone was and put the stone where the dirt was (unless you want to leave the hole there). So you could also use it to build a trench around your base for protection. I'm not sure how we could deal with paved floors. Does the game even save what was under the tiles?

is the sledgehammer compatible with the romance mod?
Only in Rimworld.

I knew something like that would come up. The only problem with it is it defeats the whole purpose of removing pumps. So I would consider it op regardless of how long it takes to make soil. At least the moving soil idea is balanced by not increasing soil.
