If a colonist suffers massive burns to the arms, or a gunshot to the leg.

Can these things be healed but be listed in injuries as (old burn scar or gunshot scar?)
I want to see the colonists history measured in his scars and his ability to survive. A colonist can brush death, go into a bed and come out with no injuries, his story forgotten!

As it would be in the injuries tab a scar should carry at least a 2% reduced efficiency so it isn't just cosmetic. Surely you can only be lit up by a mini gun so many times before it wears you down.

After many battles on the rim world these people should be bearing the scars of their efforts.

An idea of mine, is that more injury would leave permanent mark, but Glitterworld medicine would be able to cure everything, lessening things like Frail and Bad back.

Though, balance would be in order because I don't want every single of my colonist to look like Rambo. Not even if I could pay to bring them back to normal.

uhm, they already do get scars from battles, that do cause a reduction in ability. If you heal them quickly, less chance of a scar. Good quality bandage, less chance of a scar.

n vanilla, no way to heal a scar either, the reduction is permanent, unless it is on an arm or leg you can replace.

Ah yes, true.
My last settlements had some freaking good doctor, so even getting shredded by minigun or burned by Mechanoid could be fully healed with Medicinal plant.
Then, I'd ask for Glitterworld medicine to become more awesome.

I'd be up for more scarring if they weren't necessarily debilitating. Most small scars aren't going to cause you problems in the long run unless it's somewhere like your eye or throat. Even big scars from deep wounds shouldn't necessarily cause pain, though it would be appropriate for the affected area to have a small permanent health debuff.

My point isn't that they already don't, but if someone stabbed you in the leg severely a bandage isn't going to make the marks go away.
The chance of a scar should always be present if a colonist damn near dies from 30 wounds, fast or not.

Reason the debuff would have to exist no matter how small is so the injuries section isn't filled with non-injuries, mechanically. Its another idea of storytelling but through what the colonists experience.

How about scars impact on efficiency is constant over time, but their negative impact on mood falls over time (to some minimum)? For small scars most people acclimate after a few months or years, especially as the scar heals.

hmmm...here's an idea, how about 2 types of scars, ones like the current ones that cause pain and a efficency debuff and then another that doesn't. Then add a "wound history" chart as a third tab in the health section of the colonist. it will tell all wounds inflicted upon the colonist. The current health tab can be used simply to show wounds that affect a colonist's effecency.

I don't understand why scars cause pain at all. I have scars all over my body, which were tender at first but after a year, and they start to fade, they are just marks on my body.

I guessed that large scars cause mental anguish.

Just kind of a way to show that months of fighting for your life and getting wounded slowly chip away at the person they are. Makes injuries that are not a body part destroyed or shattered less trivial I guess. :)

Getting shot in the lung, stitched up, arm hit by a mortar nearly blown off, stitched up - can't be all that healthy in the long run!
