Minor Crashed Ship events

Proposal: A small mech ship fragment crash event with no special effects (no psychic drone, no poison), where a small to medium contingent of mechs auto-deploy around the crash site.

This can be used by progressive storytellers relatively early in the colony's progression, because unlike the drone or poison there's no immediate need to deal with the situation. It can be avoided until the colony has the weapons or manpower to address the threat, but it might close off access to some resources or pod crashes. It could serve as a danger zone and add some character to the map early on, and may even spark emergent battles with visitors and raiders. Since the mechs auto-deploy and patrol a small radius until provoked, the ship can't be figuratively sandbagged with the "burning oven" tactics.

Hm. Interesting idea. Although that's basically what the normal ship part crash is, except it would just auto-deploy them.

making it  impossible to prepare the site of battle, but allowing to gather resources required to adress it first, which is quite a difference.

Alright idea. I think the key difference with existing events is there is no timer forcing you to attack the ship (poison, psychic wave), so its a decent intermediate event. Another pro is that it probably is very easy to implement.

A big con is that its pretty boring - it doesn't add anything meaningful to the story of a game that isn't already there. Also, making the progression perfectly smooth makes the story a bit too predictable.

I think the point is to add more flavor to the map, and, say, randomly help you with a raid or kill a group of visitors entering the map there, which is pretty much the opposite of predictable.

This is quite an enjoyable proposal. I would like to see it in the game! :)

Blub - that's a fair point, and helps with that one concern. As mentioned, it should be cheap to add so why not?
