Hi~guys
Im a Chinese gamer. I really like this game since I found it on steam.
At the same time, I dreamed about playing this fantastic game on my Nintendo Switch, which is a really good console this year. Especially when the indie game Stardew Valley came to Nintendo Switch and has been sold well (becoming the best seller in America Nintendo eshop), I think it's time for your group consider this stuff, for it's not hard to make your game operating on Nintendo Switch.
I'm crazy about Rrimworld and really want to play it on Nintendo Switch.

Thank you !

I sadly don't think so, but i would buy it a second time for the Nintendo Switch.

i gues rimworld on switch could work, BUT nintendo would never ever allow Modding on the switch.  >:(

By now there are so many great mods out there i cant imagine playing it with out them.

only if nintendo starts porting more games to the pc.
and if developers stop dumbing down pc games for console users.
finally. rimworld with 360x240 resolution .. are you some kind of masochist ?
Maxim 1   : Pillage, then burn
Maxim 37 : There is no overkill. There is only open fire and reload.
Rule 34 of Rimworld :There is a mod for that.

With improved HUD, I'd try it. Thinking about running on phones... Galaxy S7/S8 would lift it without a sound of tiredness.
Eat lead, walking pile of silver! (greedy Player)
I...I can't do it. Leave it alive, please!(inner soul)
It lives 200 years to end up as a jacket?!(realists mind)
If I would go to vacation in off-Earth, even fictional place, I'd choose Nibel.

The main issue is that playing Rimworld on a small screen is probably a pain.
Stardew valley has a naturally smaller resolution and is therefore easier to play on a smaller screen.

Additionally there might be issues with the input since Rimworld has to be ported from mouse and keyboard to whatever.

Lastly: I just don't think Ludeon studios is interested in a port away from PC.
Maybe once the game ever releases....

if large and old colonies (5years+  25colonists+) challenge even i7 cpus, i don't think nintendo Switch could handle this game very well.

This.

Now add in probably needing a re-program for that different an architecture.

I looked it up, and the Nintendo Switch has a CPU speed of... 1020 MHz. While that doesn't sound like a lot compared to computers, remember that computers are always processing a lot of other things in the background not related to the game you're playing, while the Nintendo Switch's CPU can essentially be completely dedicated to the game you're playing. It does have a very good GPU compared to the CPU, but the GPU runs 2.5x slower when the Switch is undocked (in handheld form). Also, Rimworld doesn't really require a great GPU anyways. All in all, I think that the Switch will be ABLE to run Rimworld to a semi-acceptable standard (as long as the console version of the game is more optimised) but  the game will ultimately slow down quite quickly after a few in-game years. I also have a Nintendo Switch and it's a very good console so I too would like to see Rimworld for the Switch. But then you also have to realise that the dev team working on this game is VERY small and that there are bigger priorities for them to focus on.

Doubtful. I doubt Tynan will get into ports until the PC version is finished. And even if he does, it's almost certainly going to be handled by someone else. Porting a game with this level of complexity isn't a job for two people. CorcernedApe had others port Stardew Valley for Switch as well, though AFAIK mosty because he didn't have the knowledge/experience to do it himself. And also because the PC version took almost 5 years for him to do on his own.

nintendo doesnt need to start anything, developers port games.
... not really relevant
854 x 480 is the resolution for the switch how far that is acceptable depends on the developer

My main point was modding vs Nintendo. Why do u quote me if your point is PC-Masterrace vs Console-peasants ?

It's a Switch, not a Wii or DS.

The screen itself supports 1280 x 720; while docked it supports up to 1920 x 1080. Granted not every game uses the max resolution.

I don't know how well the Switch's cpu could handle this game though (it's not high powered), as Rimworld does seem to be CPU intensive in some ways.

With proper optimizations, and if Ludeon wanted to foot the effort, you probably could run at least at 720p with an acceptable framerate on a Switch with some limitations.

Of course, if we're talking console, you probably have better odds getting it on PS 4 or Xbox one as those have better hardware (Nintendo doesn't really lead in terms of hardware).
Should I feel bad that nearly half my posts are in the off topic section?

It's not a Nintendo Switch, but I have a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPD_Win that I essentially just play rimworld on.  Only problem is the resolution is locked at 720p, and it is kind of a miracle that Rimworld runs it at 1024x768 and just cuts off the top a little bit (and leaving empty space on the sides to be filled in with textures/artifacts.

I can run this thing pretty well, had a 11 person tribal colony with way too many boars last a year and a half, until a well-timed infestation proved to be too much.  You can't run it at 3x, but 2x works 30fps+ and 1x practically 60fps.

It's also taught me how to use Controller Companion to make a Xbox360 controller functional (and sometimes ideal) for Rimworld.  Sometimes I forget how to do things with the keyboard :P
