Hello. I find that the majority of interesting physical features (roads/rivers/swamps/beaches) tend to get generated on flat land. Due to the lack of metal/stone I consider flat land colonies to be for more hard core challenge players, where I am more of a casual roleplayer. I would appreciate it if a slider for mountainous-ness could be added to the world generator that allows you to reduce the number of flat hexes a map generates.

Tanks, many and green.

I would love for the world map to be 3D, it's already 3D but I mean the mountain ranges sticking out from the surface and projecting shadows on the surface.

You may be misunderstanding the OP's post a little.

But I do agree that a 'realistic world map view' would be cool, just to look at what my pawns are travelling through.

+1 to this suggestion: most of my times generating maps is trying to find a nice mountain spot. (Plus playing with stupid magic insects disabled, because having threats goofily materialize inside a base is far more annoying after the first time than it is fun.)

Mods I would recommend:
Mending, Fertile Fields, Smokeleaf Industries and the Giddy Up series.

The Mod you must have:
