Nobility system/Leadership

I was reading a book by Peter Hamlton where a space ship crashes and the after 100s of years the military ranks end up morphying into social nobility classes. I was wondering if there was any plans to use the character backstories to build in a class system in the colony. I think it would be neat to at least be able to choose a colony leader/president/mayor and have what happens to him affect the overall moral..sort of like dwarf fortress. Maybe if he is an epert cook while he is mayor everyone gets a point or two in cooking.

Is there time to implement this sort of feature ?

I've really  been wanting an idea similar to this- Instead of the player pretending to make a leader and give them all the cool stuff, it could be more formalised. How such a system would be implemented though is beyond me.

We need social interaction before anything like status gets thrown into the mix.  That being said, it would make the long term game a lot more fun.
