It would be great to have another kind of biome: "extreme".

I'm not talking about something like the extreme desert, but a biome that swings wildly annually: it would have the summer of deserts and the winter of tundras. It also allows a more diverse flora and fauna than the existing biomes, providing a good challenge as well as highly varied gameplay.

I don't know about you, but if something wildly fluctuated between one extreme to the next, I wouldn't want to live there. Would you? I sure wouldn't.

^That is what nature says. If you get anything at all living there, it'd be underground, if that.

We can call this "Extreme Biome" the ultimate challenge starter location. Temperatures can swing from hot to cold extremes rapidly, cold snap/heat wave events will happen much more frequently, the growing season will be short or even not existent within a year, and tornado events could occasionally spawn causing structural damage and destroying anything not under a roof. Feral packs of berserk predators will roam onto the map, and on the bright side very few raids will ever occur, and they will occur much later than in other starting locations, on the flip side the raiders that do come will be much better armed.

On top of this, very few visitors or trade caravans will come; toxic fallout will have a slightly higher incident likelihood than anywhere else to occur and because of the extreme conditions disease will rarely happen.

We discuss all sorts of things like this in my thread https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=17103.0

give it a read and see if it helps give you ideas.  its (almost) always easier on Tynan if everything is in one place.
